Krynn Robinson bested a
large field Sunday to take
eight top honors in the annual
4-H Horse Show at the Morrow
County Fair and Rodeo gro
unds.
Miss Robinson took two
grand champion honors, two
championships, one reserve
championship, two blue rib
bons and a red ribbon.
Miss Robinson was by far
the leading horsewoman at the
Swim
Club

Led by Diane Holland's
seven mile effort, the Heppner
Swim Club and friends, strok
ed out 80 miles Monday night
in the third annual Swim-A-Thon.
There were 32 swimmers in
the Monday evening action. A
total of 52 laps constitutes a
mile. The swimmers swam a
total of 4202 laps or about 80
miles.
In order of their finish, with
laps, the swimmers were
Diane Holland 364; Dale
Doug Sams, Heppner
Swim Coach, resigned
after the district swim
meet last week. Chris
Borgen, newly hired
basketball coach at He
ppner High School, will
replace Sams for the
remainder of the swim
season.
Sams will return to
Oregon Stale University
and Corvallis where he
Is a varsity football
manager for the OSU

conference room of Columbia
Basin Electric. Plans for the
two-day, John Day meet will
be finalized.

Wilsons tabbed
The Heppner Swim Club
named Tom and Dorothy
Wilson as volunteers of the
year Monday evening.
The first annual award goes
to the Wilsons for their willful
service at all the summer
swim meets. The Wilsons
manned the concession stands
at the pool as well as at the
Little League park this summer.
They also were very helpful
during the sidewalk sale and
the swim club's dunk tank.
The Wilsons have been
involved with the swim club
for three years, since Its
beginning. They have two
children that swim; Perry,
freshman this year at Hepp
ner High School and Lisa, a
nine vear-old.

' Hats off to C.C. Carmichael for his
hole-ln-one on No. 3 on Tuesday, July 27. This
js the sixth time the Judge has had a
hole In-one. He was playing with U Verne
Van Martcr when he made this last one.
; Last Sunday, men's play was rained out for
the first time In long while but the rains
nded soon enough to allow for afternoon play
and barbecue. Scramble was the name of the
fame for the golfers and It ended in a tie
between the teams of Dave and Norma
Harrison and Ed and Bev Gunderson. Other
winners included Charlie Rawlins. Francis
poherty and Roxie tovgren. John Edmund-
son won KP on No. 4.
The lady golfers visited at Kinzua last
Thursday and Cindy Kerr took the honors for
low gnws and first KP. Eddie Skow was
second In both of the above mrnUnwd events.
Low net was shared by Loll Hunt and Umla
Padtrg.
In the ladles Tuesday a rn. play, low gross
was won by Vlckl Edmundwrn with Mtnic
Jones taking low net honors. Cindy Kerr had
the hot putter and won Irani putts award

working hunter hack class.

horse showmanship and Dawn
Peterson was reserve grand
champ. Following Miss Rob

Palmer.
