Highlighting the enjoyment
of Mother'! Day In the Village
Sunday was the ham dinner
served at the high school lunch
room from 12 noon to 3:30
p.m., honoring the mothers
and the proceeds benefiting
Spray's rodeo queen candi
date, Zorieta Potter.
Zorleta wishes to take this
opportunity to thank members
of her family and extend
special thanks to Myrna
Gervals and Margaret Ash
mead for their work in the
preparation and serving the
meal to the more than 150
people present. Also to the
many others for their dona
tions and assistance.
Glen and Betty Potter, Ser
vice Creek spent the Mother's
Day weekend traveling to The
Dalles, Yakima and Pasco,
WA., and in Hermiston, where
they visited the Buford Brid
gewaters, former Spray resi
dents. Recent guests at the Potters
have been Betty's sister,
Helen Harrison with her
daughter Deann, Enterprise,
the ladies mother, Elizabeth
Humphrey, and Nella Britt,.
with Infant daughter, Sarah,
Fossil.
The Bill Potters, Service
Creek, spent the Sunday
holiday with Judy's parents, '
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Myers,
Condon.
The Hubert Ashers have
been in Portland this week.
Goldie is getting along nicely
following her recent accident.
A short stay in the hospital
was necessitated however for
treatment of an infection.
Wednesday visitors with
Miml Williams were her
daughters and families, the Al
Wileys and granddaughter
Libby Dawn Britt, Echo, and
the W.C. Freemans. Fossil.
The Freemans have enjoyed
their daughter, Marsha Lyn
and their grandsons, Josh and
Matthew Bogle from Klamath
Falls over the weekend.
The Senior Citizen advisory
board met Monday at the
Grange Hall when George
Dunn and Lois Hunt, Fossil,
and the district advisor from
Pendleton were present for a
discussion concerning the en
suing years budget for the tri
counties. Fifteen people at
tended. Alice Deitz. Carol Asher and
sim Frankie were in Heppner
Tuesday for business and
shopping.
Cora Burnside's house
.guests this week included her
son George and his family,
Heppner. the Clyde Sleagalls,
Spokane. WA. Virginia and
Jack Sitton, Kinzua ; the Lloyd
Humphreys. Hardman; and
Lola Breeding. Irrigon.
On Tuesday Mrs. Breeding
accompanied Mrs. Burnside
to Pendleton for shopping and
medical appointments.
Pauline and Maxine Nichols
and son Brodie are here
visiting the George Nichols
from Council, ID.
Mr. and Mrs. Odell Adams
were In Kennewick for the
holiday at the home of their
daughter, the George Shens
and at the Frank Adams home
there.
The flea markersponsored
'by the Legion and Indies
Auxiliary Sunday, May 9 was
well attended and reportedly a
success.
The hall's interior Is respon
ding attractively to the dili
gent work of the members in
carpenlry, remodeling and
general refurbishing and will
soon be ready for use, they
slate.
Sunday, May 23 has been set
for a cleanup day at Haystack
Cemetery. Those Interested
are asked to bring cleanup
equipment and a sack lunch.
Mrs. Ron Brlsbois and
daughter Nikkl Jo and her
mother, Mrs. Charlotte Britt,
Condon, spent few days In
Hermiston last week al the
home of her sister and family,
the Dean Coutures. Kate
Dunn, Boardman, joined her
mother and sisters there and
enjoyed a dinner Tuesday
evening in observance of her
birthday.
On Thursday evening. while
having dinner with her thre
daughters at Hermislon'i Pli
ta Inn, Mrs. Brill was
surprised when she was pre
sented with a birthday cake
and a vocal rendition of Happy
Birthday by the management.
