Morrow County's 20 mile Walk-A-Thon,
from Heppner to Lexing
ton and return Saturday netted the
March of Dimes an estimated
$5,600. u 4
145 walkers started the march at
various times Saturday morning
and 112 of the entrants completed
the walk. The total amount pledged
by sponsors of the walker amou
nted to $280.39 per mile for a total
of $5,607.80, however, all of the
entrants did not walk the entire
distance so the total amount to the
March of Dimes will be somewhat
less.
Mayor Jerry Sweeney had the
most amount of sponsors for a total

Dean Hunt, Lexington was the
oldest walker to complete the
entire walk.
Three 8 year old youngsters
completed the entire walk. They
are Ronnie Doherty, Ellen Arbo
gast and Tim Lear. Dale Holland
was the first boy to finish the walk
in the time of 3 hours and 15
minutes. Lori Prock, lone, was the
first girl to finish the walk, Jeff
Hams, lone was the third person to
complete the walk and Angela
Fraser, 9 years old finished last.
The Walk-A-Thon was sponsored
by members of the Heppner High
School Honor Society.
