Somewhere in town (will not
reveal the exact location)
there is a boy's club house,
built with borrowed wood,
nai'S and hard work. Their
rules to join are not strict, just
ten cents a week dues. A seven
year old came into his house
where I was visiting, wishing
he had fifteen cents. We asked
him why, his reply was "I
need a water pistol permit."
Thi-re must be a mayor's,
policeman's or councilman's
son in the club.
Birdine Tullis spoke to the
Newcommers Luncheon me
eting held Monday, describing
the interesting and fun trip
taken by a group of Morrow
County women last week. Suz
anne Jepsen announced that
Ladies golf day will be held on
Tuesdays. It was also announ
ced that day-time bridge
players are needed. Mary
Kennison will be the Newcom
ers unofficial hostess greeting
all the ladies who attend the
May luncheon.
Orville and Barbara Cuts
fort h have returned from a
six-week motor home trip.

eastern states returning Lisa
and Rick Watson, (daughter
and son-in-law t to New Liana.
LA. They met son Gene
Heliker in Memphis. TX and
were entertained by his band
for an evening's entertain
ment . Gene will be performing
in Seattle in May. It was then
ofl (o the southwestern states
and Mexico, where they met
, George and Virginia Stillman.
All in all they can keep you
entertained for hours on the
eve nts of their trip and tell of
all the devotion that the smoky
bears gave Orville.
The Morrow County Cow
Belles will be holding a
luncheon at the Elks Lodge
Tuesday. April 13. at noon.
Oregon CowBelle President.

speaker. Jean Bennett hopes
for a large turn-out for Liz.
We have received many
inquiries as to how the fishing
boats were launched at Lake
Penland. Our photographer
has advised us to ask Glen
Ward, as our photographer
takes them as he sees them.
Attending their school re
union at Mosier last weekend
were Anita Boyer and Coetta
Debraal.
Are you ready for this one?
Before I even start to explain
the rules, I think Judge Paul
Jones and Mayor Jerry Swe
eney should lead this deserv
ing group. The National Honor
Society of lone and Heppner
High Schools are organizing a
Walkathon. There are sponsor
sheets that can be picked up at
any of the schools or at the
Bank of Eastern Oregon. Find
a person or organization that
will pay you so much a mile to
walk from here to Lexington
and back. There will be prizes
for the oldest, youngest, who
walks the most miles, etc. etc.
The March of Dimes will
receive all the proceeds. But
of course, there will be cars
and two-mile check points for
those who fall out or need
attention along the way. The
money donated for the Judge
and Mayor walk can be
deposited at the Bank of
Eastern Oregon starting now.
So we will see them Saturday,
April 17. 9 a.m. at the Old Ford
Garage parking lot to lead the
group.
