1 Card of Thanks
Many thanki for all the
kindnesses extended me dur

Special thanks to Dr. Car
penter, Dr. Gifford and the
Pioneer Memorial Hospital
staff.
JOHN HANNA
May we express our many
thanks to all who helped try to
save our house from burning
and worked to save the store.
Without the vehicles with
water and much concern of
our neighbors and friends, the
loss would have been much
greater.
The clothes, toys, telephone
calls and general concern are
certainly appreciated. Thank
you all again.
Mr. it Mrs. Kenneth Wright
and Family
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright
I wish to thank all my
wonderful friends and rela

SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
PROCEDURES
Oregon Law requires the
parents of a child between the
ages of 7 and 18 years, who has
not completed the 12th grade,
to send and maintain their
child in a public full time
school during the entire school
term. Under the law, absence
from school is permitted only
for illness of the student, for
extreme emergencies such as
a death in the immediate
family, or for scheduled and
supervised school activities
such as athletic contests and
field trips. Also, by making
advance arrangements with
the school, the student may be
pre-excused for personal or
family matters such as medi
cal or business appointments
or essential work.
The compulsory school at
tendance law has certain
exceptions pertaining to em
ployed students, physically or
mentally handicapped stud
ents, students who cannot be
transported to school and
students who attend private or
parochial schools or home
instruction.
Morrow County residents
are encouraged to contact
their local school office and
school principal if they have a
question about school atten
dance procedures. If a student
is not in school during normal
school hours, a call to the
school office will result in an
explanation for the absence or
will alert the school principal
to a possible truancy to be
checked.
