Board
votes to
separate
The Morrow County Mental
Health Clinic Advisory Board
voted at their monthly meet
ing, Jan. 22. to separate from
the Umatilla Mental Health
Program.
The Umatilla-Morrow Cou
nty Mental Health Services
started the Joint venture three
years ago with the idea that
when the Morrow County
Mental Health Program had
established itself, the two
programs would separate.
The current acting admini
strator, Bruce Barnes, and the
Umatilla County Commis
sioners feel that the Morrow
County Mental Health Pro
gram is well established and
should be independent. With '
this knowledge, the Morrow
County Advisory Board agre
ed and voted ten to one to
separate.
The Advisory Board also
discussed these reasons for
the separation: (1)80 per cent
separated already; (2) have
our funds through fees and the
county to finance the pro
gram; (3) difficult admini
strative arrangement while
the two clinics are united; (4)
the director of Morrow County
Program has greater interest
and knowledge of the county's
needs, and (5) if the clinics
separate, Morrow County will
still obtain consultation from
Eastern Oregon Comprehen
sive Community Mental Heal
th Center.
