Hound Up season officially ens with the Dress Up Parade
in downtown Pendleton, on Sept. 6.
A 20 year class reunion was
held Aug. 23 and 24 for the
class of 1955 who graduated
from the Irrigon High School
before it was consolidated,
with the Boardman school.
The get together was held at
the Irrigon Lions Clubhouse,
Saturday night with 12 attend
ing. There were 16 graduated
with the class. On Sunday
afternoon some of the group
gathered at the Park on the
Columbia River in Irrigon for
a potluck dinner.
Those attending the class
reunion included: Mr. and
Mrs. Dale Shingledecker, Mr.
and Mrs. Kenneth Edwards,
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Johnson,
Glen Coy, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Holden, Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Frazier and their
former teacher, Mrs. Ruth
Coy of Hermiston.
A fellowship meeting of
Assembly of God Churches
will be held at the Irrigon
Assembly on Sept. 8 with an
afternoon service at 2 p.m.
and the evening service at 7
p.m.
The associate pastor the
Rev. Dwayne Gyer of Milton
Freewater will be the after
noon speaker and the Sound
Life Singers, San Jose, will be
featured in the evening ser
vice. Pastor Robert Schmoll
extends a welcome to all.

empty gas tank. Evidently the
car thieves had run out of gas
and abandoned it.
Visitors at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Warner were
their daughter and son-in-law,
the Rev. and Mrs. Cyril
McLellan. Springfield, MO.
where he is an instructor and
choir director at Central Bible
Institute.
Their sons Bruce and Steph
en McLellan who spent the
summer with their grandpar
ents have returned to their
home.

New pastor arrives
for Nazarene church
Gordon E. Blackburn and
his family have moved to
lleppner this week to assume
the pastorate at the Heppner
Church of the Nazarene.
Pastor Blackburn is a grad
uate of Nazarene Bible Col
lege. Colorado Springs. CO.
Mr. Blackburn is a native
Oregonian who grew up in
Vernonia. OR. His wife. Gen
eva, majored in music at the
University of San Diego in San
Diego, CA. She plays the
piano, organ and cello. Mrs.
Blackburn has given piano
and organ lessons for several
years. The Blackburns have
one daughter. Cindy Kay. who
is 5 years old.

Country Club on Saturday,
Aug. 30. A round of golf was
played by those attending
prior to the barbecue.
In men's play John Ed
mundson won low gross with a
31 and Ray Massey had low
net with 24.
Low gross for the women
was won by Bev Gunderson
with 38 and Pat Edmundson
had 31 for low net.

Lanham were in charge for
the day.
On Sunday. Aug. 31 Willow
Creek golfers visited at Mc
Nary along with the Condon
golfers, Eight men and one
woman participated from the
Heppner club.
Doug Gunderson won low
gross for the Willow Creek
players and Ray Massey
topped all the clubs to win long
drive. Low net for the men
went to C.C. Carmichae!
followed by Jeff Edmundson
and Francis Doherty.
In last w eek's Tee Cup news
this writer made the error of
the day. It stated that John
Edmundson wandered onto
the course during womens
play. Actually the culprit was
Jeff Edmundson. Our presi
dent wouldn't do anything like
that.

Hearing Tests Set
! For Heppner Area
I Free electronic hearing tests
f will be given at the Beltone
hearing Aid service center, on
Friday, 12-3 p.m.
Factory-trained hearing aid
specialists will be at the motel
listed below to perform the
tests.
Anyone who has trouble
hearing or understanding is
welcome to have a test using
the latest electronic equipment
to determine his or her
particular loss. Diagrams
showing how the ear works and
some of the causes of hearing
loss will be available. Every
one should have a hearing test
at least once a year if there is
any trouble at alt hearing
clearly. Even people now
wearing a hearing aid or those
who have been told nothing
could be done for them should
have a hearing test and find out
about the latest methods of
hearing correction.
The free hearing tests will be
given at Northwestern Motel
Friday. If you can't get there
on Friday, call 676-9167, and
arrange for an appointment at
another time.
