This is pari of (he hutje crowd that gathered at Cecil. Or., Tuesday to enjoy the
barbecue and program. An estimated l.K) people were served dinner, Tliis was
the largest gathering in the Stale of Oregon to date to grift the wagon train.
Attending the festivities at Cecil, Tuesday are from the right, Rodd Harrison,
Mike Sweeney, chairman of the Bicentennial committee, J. Earl Flick, Oregon
wagonmaster, and Everett Keithley, wagonmasler for Morrow County.

When Morrow County's covered wagon came to a halt at Cecil Tuesday, the
young colt (raveling wilh the wagon decided it was time for a snack.

BROCK ARRESTED
William Russell Brock, 20,
Heppner was arrested by
Heppner City Police early
Saturday morning and charg
ed wilh driving while under
the influence of intoxicating
liquor and also for driving
with a suspended operator's
license.
Brock appeared in Juslice
Court Tuesday. July '8, and
was fined $305 or 60 days in the
county jail by Juslice of the
Peace Charles O'Connor, for
driving while under the in
fluence. He pleaded not guilty
to the charge of driving with a
suspended operator's license,
Sidewalk sale
termed success
Overcast skies threatened
Heppner merchants during
their 12th annual Sidewalk
Sale days last Friday and
Saturday.
The cloudy skies may have
benefited the merchants as
the temperature was cooler
than some days during the
previous week. The skies
remained overcast alt Friday
and it appeared rain Mould fall
any moment: however mer
chants managed to close their
shops without being rained on.
Saturday ihe skies were
blue and once again Ihe
merchants placed their ware
in Ihe sidewalk aea for their
customers In Ihe early after
mum. Ihe skies began lo get
darker and a slight rain fell
Many merchants removed
their sale items from Ihe
sidewalk and completed their
days business indoors
In general alt of Ihe mer
chants reported sales were up
from previous years and one
said. "This is Ihe best sale we
have ever had."
