since Memorial Day. The
family ol Alex and Mallie
(ireen presented a large,
cast-iron lard rendering
kettle.
Herman Green says their
parents moved il from ranch
lo ranch with them, and he
recalls standing stirring lard
in it by ihe hour over an open
lire. He says il had lo be
stirred vigorously lo keep il
from scorching and turning
brow n ( Hten the Green family
shared ihe keltle with ranch
neighbors when they had joint
butchering sessions. The big
keltle is now in place in Ihe
north east corner of ihe new
section of the museum.
Mr and Mrs. C.ll. Brand
hagen brought in luo unusual
pictures taken in I9U.1 during
thecleanum alter the Heppner
Flood. The pictures show Ihe

have lieen changes in owner

a short time."
Virginia Whitaker purchas
ed Miladies Apparel Shop, and
has since changed the name to
the l.ebush Shnppe. She said,
don't feel thai I have a new
business, as I have been
operating Ihe store for over a
year."
At present Ihe l.ebush
Slmppe is undergoing remod
eling to ihe exterior of the
shop When completed the
front of the store will be
trimmed w ilh brick and wood
shingles. Some of Ihe interior
remodeling has been comple
ted, although she said. "There
is still a lot of work lo be done
on Ihe inside "
She has added many new
lines ol fashions in an attempt
lo bring a larger selection of

ity She has tried lo encourage

Cole said. "We had a family

the benefit of our customers."
