Saturday night saw the
Good Neighbor Policy In
action, Hardman Style, as the
Hardman Opry House again
opened its doors for a benefit
dance.
This dance, given to help
defray medical expenses of
John Ekstrom, drew people
from near and far. People
came from as near as next
door and as far as Kenncwick,
Wa. II was a stomping,
hollering, fun-filled crowd,
typical of a Hardman benefit.
The music was pure
country-western with Just a
touch of Irish thrown In. Dick
Gorham and the gang, regular
players at Hardman, contri
buted most of the music. Bill
Avers made a pleasant guest
apiH-arance and the evening
also boasted a duet by a couple
of young performers, Wanda
Riley and Todd Gorham.
Mixing with the music was
the tantalizing aroma of
spaghetti being prepared In
the kitchen. This along with
other foodstuffs was gener
ously contributed by local
business people and was
appreciated by both members
of the community center and
the hungry dancers.

Since December 1974, the
Federal Home Loan Bank
Board has prohibited sex
discrimination in making
mortgage loans. One effect is
that the combined income of
both husband and wife must
be considered in granting
mortgage loans. The lender
cannot prejudge what might
happen in the future. For
example, the lender cannot
disallow the wife's income on
the assumption she might
decide to quit her job. The
FIILBB also rules that it Is
discriminatory to require a
single woman with a steady
job or income to obtain a
co-signer for a mortgage loan
when single men are not
subjected to this requirement.

over the rummage sale for
merly held by the kindergar
ten parents.
The sale is planned for April
25-2fi at the fairgrounds.
Money made from the sale
will go to supplement a
swimming coach's salary and
for new equipment.
Although rummage is being
picked up weekly, the associa
tion still has need for more.
A swim association organi
zational meeting is planned
for April 9. 7:30 p.m.. at the
old library room in City Hall.
Any interested person or
parent is welcome to attend.
The association is seeking
more children for the swim
team.

dinner meeting. Saturday,
March 22. at the Tapadera
banquet room in Pendleton.
The social hour is at 6:30 p.m..

o'clock. The meeting is to plan
an activities calendar for the
