Pummel also held the posi ' tions of chairman of the plan ning commission and water superintendent. These posi tions were resigned also. Poor health was given as the reason for the resignations. No suc cessor was named for the posi tion of police chief. Rodney Cayman was named water superintendent. Residents interested in serv ing on the planning commis sion should contact Recorder Barbara Byrd and an appoint ment will be made at the Sept ember city council meeting. The chairman will be chosen by the planning commission members. The applications for liquor license renewals were approv ed for the Complete Food Store and the C & H Market. She had spent the past two weeks visiting them. Mr. and Mrs. Art Sparks and Terry of Portland arrived Friday to spend the weekend visiting their son, Jeff Sparks, and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Luper and family. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Reid and Mrs. Clarence Reid went to Hermiston Saturday to return Mrs. Reid to her home. She had been visiting Mr; and Mrs. Chuck Mitchell and family the past week.
