ers have been busy for the
past weeks. Thanks to Judge
Buck Leckie and the loan of
his truck, a trip was made to
Sweet Home to purchase
cedar bales. A load of 75 bales
was brought to Kinzua and
now there have been 14
additional targets added to the
field. There is a continious 28
target course plus the 14
animal round. This has really
taken a lot of work and effort
from club members.
All ruined bales have been
replaced and banded and
remeasured to get ready for
the Invitational Shoot held
June 9.
Coming from Redlands, Ca.,
to attend graduation exercises
of her great grandson, Randy
Hulett, was Mrs. Lydia
Wisley.
Mrs. Gladys Muzzy left May
29 for Ketchikan, Alaska, for a
month's stay while her daughter-in-law,
Mrs. Elva Muzzy,
is in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Dyer went to Portland
May 30 to pick up their
grandson, Kevin Muzzy, of
Ketchikan who will spend the
next month here,
Pastor and Mrs. William
Mai and Mrs. William Mai Sr.
returned Saturday from a
month's vacation in Phila
delphia. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wil
liamson of Lancaster, Ca., and
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry William
son of Arlington, Va., were
here for the last part of the
week to attend grade school
graduation of their niece and
granddaughter, Andrea
Campbell. While here they
were guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Arlet Campbell and Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Williamson and
family.
On May 31, Mrs. Marilyn
Bailey and Mrs. Rosie
Graham and daughters went
to Portland where Mrs. Bailey
flew to North Carolina and
Mrs. Graham and daughters
to London, Ky., for a five-week
vacation.

District be authorized to made a serial tax levy in the amount
of $6,000.00 for the fiscal year 1974-75 for the purpose of
purchasing equipment and operational costs. These proposed taxes
are outside and in addition to the limitation imposed by Section
II of Article XI of the Oregon Constitution. The minimum rate
of levy deemed necessary to rasie Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00)
is the sum of, ninety cents per thousand of true cash cahie
of taxable property within the district, to run for ten (10)
consecutive years.

visit Mr. and Mrs. ' Bruce
Holloman. They met Mr. and
Mrs. Dave Hunt who had been
in Pendleton visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Larry Brown. From
there they went to Spokane,
Wn., where they spent the next
three days seeing the World's
Fair.
The Merry Makers held
their regular card party
Wednesday with Melba
Mitchell as hostess. Winning
high was Margie Robbirs;
second high, Sue Mattison;
pinochles went to Marvel
Sewell and Sue Mattison.

'Davis, Linda Shaw, Laura
Hire and Irene Samples.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond
Reid went to Caldwell, Idaho,
Friday due to the illness of
deena's father, Dale Sinclair.
Miss Eulala Spor, a mis
sionary from Japan, was here
the past week as a guest
speaker at the church.
Ken Sewell was taken to
Redmond Saturday by am
bulance where he entered the
hospital for treatment of
extensive burns.

family went to Heppner Sun
day to visit Mr. and Mrs. Dick
Sargent and family.
Jack and Jill Night was held
at the golf course Friday
night. A potluck supper was
served. Low gross went to Pat

the evening were Mr. and Mrs.

Port of Morrow gels
s1.5 million
A federal loan of $1.5 million
for the Port of Morrow has
been approved under the
Rural Development Act by the
Farmers Home Administra
tion, Cong. Al Ullman an
nounced Friday.
Ullman said the loan fund is
earmarked to build sanitary
sewage and industrial waste
disposal facilities, along with
new water supply piping and
equipment.

land owned and leased out by
the Port of Morrow.
The treatment facilities are
to be constructed for the Port
of Morrow Industrial Park.
Repayment period for the
loan is 30 years at 5 per cent
interest.

The Soil Conservation Ser
vice have two new employes,
Bob Davis and Gene Mc
Laughlin. Davis is 24, married and has
a nine-month-old daughter.
He is a graduate ot Lane
Community College, and has
an associate of arts degree in
forestry.
He and his wife Kathy live in
Heppner.
McLaughlin is 25 and mar
ried. He has previously
worked for the Bureau of Land
Management at Vale, Ore.,
and prior to that he served
with the United States Army
in Germany,
He has a bachelor of science
degree in land management
from Oregon State University.
He and his wife Jennifer are
living in Heppner.

mittee met June 6 at the high
school for a discussion of
current and planned career
educational programs in the
business and industrial arts
departments.
John Edmundson reviewed
the status of filling the
business education and music
positions and noted that the
lone Kindergarten Associa
tion is donated carryover
funds from previous years'
operations to the elementary
kindergarten room fund. This
money will be used to pur
chase special instructional
equipment for the kinder
garten. The committee was re
quested to begin planning bus
routes for next year, and also
reviewed a list of summer
maintenance and repair work
for the school buildings and
grounds.
Next meeting of the com
mittee will be July 11, 8 p.m.,
in the high school.

Residents of Irrigon are
(were) on emergency water,
supply as the big pump burned
out early Sunday.
The booster pump is sup
plying water but pressure is
very low and residents have
been asked not to sprinkle
lawns. It was hoped that
repairs would be made by
Tuesday.
A group of 12 young people,
accompanied by Pastor and
Mrs. Robert Schmoll and
LaVelle Partlow of Irrigon
and Oelpha Mills of Hermi
ston, attended a meeting in
Boise, Idaho, Monday night.
Andrae Crouch and the Dis
ciples, gospel singers, were
featured at the meeting at the
Boise State College gym
nasium. The group of young
people were guests of Mr. and
Mrs. John Wilson and family,
former Irrigon residents.
