OARDMAN ACOW Thursday, April 25, 1974 Q) Riverside presents a classic comedy "When Shakespeare's Ladies Meet," a one-act comedy, was presented by students of Riverside High School last week at the school auditorium. The list of characters in cluded Juliet, from "Romeo and Juliet.' Gracie Hixson; Portia, from "The Merchant of Venice." Ann Gasser: Desdemona. from "Othello." Greta LeBlanc: Cleopatra, from "Anthony and Cleo patra." Roberta Sicard; Ophelia, from "Hamlet." Maggie Bozarth: Katharine, from "The Taming of the Shrew." Neta Phillips. The scene of the play was in the garden of Juliet's home. Juleit has just fallen in love with Romeo and the other five visit her to instruct her in the art of successfully carrying out her romance. Portia's advice is very legal. Katha rine is present to inform Juliet 4-H The Dandy Dessert Cookers welcomed a new member. Annie Lindsay, during their April 13 meeting at the home of their leader. President Geri Gneb presided. Julie Grieb discussed ways to re-use spaghetti leftovers, and Lori Rhea demonstrated table setting. S i I :: n H Expanded budget proposed The Boardman City Council proposed a city budget that reflects a 50 per cent increase in general fund expenditures, and it got preliminary ap proval in a session of the city's budget committee last week. Final action on the proposal is expected in a special session May 29 following the new tax base election. May 28. At the May 29 session the committee may hear a report on a possible contract for police patrol in Boardman on a contract basis with the Morrow County Sheriff's Of fice. Budget committee chair man Jack McFadden is inves tigating the possible arrange ment with the county agency. This patrol proposal also depends on the outcome of the new tax base election. Increased valuation is a factor in the upcoming budget with a local tax effort of $14,548 proposed in the $52,540 budget. In the current budget the tax levy totals $14,178 on a $35,358 budget . Jeanne Franklin, Ruth Water system on April 30 agenda A public meeting to discuss water system improvements and financing is scheduled at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, at A.C. Houghton Cafetorium. A date for the bond election may be set at this special Council meeting. Engineer Val Toronto and City Attorney Joseph Hersh berger have been asked to attend, as well as representa tives from Farmers Home Administration which fi nanced the initial water pro ject. The council has asked the engineer to present proposals for improvements that would relate specifically to fire protection, and which would hopefully reduce fire insur Granges hold visitation It was visitation night for granges of Morrow County at Greenfield Grange Hall Sat urday night, starting with pot luck supper at 6:30. Delcie Chepel presented a "Dirty Sally" skit, complete with little donkey cart. Seven Rainbow Gills presented the Bunny Hop dance. Sherry Bahr sang "Leaving on a Jet Plane" and "It Never Rains in Southern California," accom panying herself on the guitar. The visitation count was Lex ington Grange 4. She will replace Mary Wil son, who presently holds the job but who will be leaving in the near future for the summer. Mrs. Byrd will be assuming the recorder duties May 15. Water bills may be paid after that date at the location of the old post office. After July 1 il is hoped regular office hours can be set for four hours a day at this location, Monday through Friday, for convenience of city related business and payment of water bills. Water payments can still be made by mail. The city is looking for a part-time utility man and is advertising for one, perfer ably a local person. The trailer is chain driven and the spuds fall into rows at a rate determined by the speed of the tractor. Before the spuds drop, a worm repellent is placed in the rows, then the fertilizer, and finally the spuds. Then all is covered with the sandy soil.
