City Engineer Val Toronto
met with the Irrtgon City
Council Dec. 11 to outline the
current status of proposed
water improvements.
Also present from Fsrmers
Home Administration were
Ken Durall, county super
visor, and Larry Splndlar,
engineer from the Portland
office, F.H.A., provided fi
nancing for the initial water
facilities.
Recent rejection by the
State Engineers Office of an
application permit for drilling
a second well was based on
critical lowering of ground
water In the area and the fact
that only a small part of the
first permit allowance is being
utilized. An attempt to have a
representative present from
the engineers office was
unsuccessful.
Priorities appear to set
additional storage first and
discussion of the proposed
200,000-gallon reservoir was
finally stymied whn legal
questions arose in connection
with methods of financing.
A meeting between the city
attorney and Majestic Acres
Corp. was authorized to an
swer some legal point for the
council. Cecil Cooley was
present representing Majestic
Acres, which plans a subdivi
sion in the southeast area of
town.
