The youngsters take turns
being the buyers and the

more interesting, the children

estimate of what they think
different items, such as break
fast cereal, actually cost.
They compare their estimates
with actual retail values. They

WHY THE TKAMS WKAR

Mrs. Dorris Graves at
tended the lone Junior High
Heppner basketball game
Nov. 30.
She offered an explanation
as to why both these teams
have red and white for their
school colors. It seems the
Heppner Junior High football
team in 1933 did not have
money for uniforms and
Orville Smith, part-owner of
the Heppner Mill, offered to
buy uniforms if he could pick
the color. His choice of color
was red and white.
The Junior Cardinals use
the same color scheme as the
Senior High school. When the
two teams meet in athletic
contests, there are a lot of red
and white uniforms on the
field of battle. It is up to the
spectator to distinguish be
tween the two.

If 3 or 4 years in the service is more than you
can afford to give right now, consider the Army's
new 2-year enlistment idea.
It's an idea with a choice. You can choose job
training from a wide range of job-training courses.
And if you qualify, we'll guarantee that training
in writing before you enlist.
Or you can choose to serve with us in Europe.
Either way, you get the same total benefits pack
age as with a longer enlistment.
Including a new starting salary of $326.10 a
month, with a raise to $363.30 in just four months.
