Tuesday evening there was
another 4 II leaders meeting
at the Robert Kroll home in
Lexington for the purpose of
incorporating the 4-H leaders
of both North and South
Morrow County into a 4-H
Leaders Association. Those
attending from N. Morrow
were Margie Shade, Sandi
Rodriguez, Lois Richards of
Irrigon and Maxine Unnell of
Boardmun.
The Rev. Don Smith Jr. of
Umatilla spoke at the Assem
bly of Cod Church Sunday
morning in the absence of
Pastor and Mrs. Robert
Schmoll. The Good News
Singers presented a program
of gospel music in the evening
service. The Rev. Smith will
speak at both services Sun
day, Sept. 30.
Pastor and Mrs. Schmoll
are taking a truck load oi
supplies and Christmas gifts
to the American Indians in the
Southwestern states for the
Women's Missionary Council
of the Assemblies of God. He
will be ministering each
evening at the Mission sta
tions. Mrs. Schmoll planned to
present illustrated Hible sto
ries for the children. They
plan to return by Oct. 7.

went deep-sea fishing and
caught several silver salmon,
one measuring 33 inches.

vallis during the past week

Boardman-The Port of
Morrow has agreed to sell 7.9
acres of land near Its food
processing park to Boardman
potato grower John Prug.
Irug grows about 4oo acres of
spuds near Boardman and
produces seed potatoes at
Joseph.
Rupert Kennedy, port
manager, said the land sold to
Prag will be used as the site
for five potato storage sheds,
lie said Prag plans to build
one shed a year for the next
five years.

The commission also asked
for certification of four wells
at the food processing park to
be used for processing water
by plants expected to locate on
the port property.
The port awarded a $3,488
contract to linger Construc
tion Company for a pump
house over port well. The
Insulated building Is 20 by 26
feet.
The port Is expecting an
answer in October from the
Rural Area Development
Administration on its appli
cation for a loan and grant of
approximately 1972,800 for
ite development work In the
port's 350 acre food proces
sing park along the Columbia
River.
The port has applied for a
20 year loan for $32,800 for a
disposal system to carry
effluent from food processing
plants to the land. A grant of
$340,200 would be used for a
water and fire protection
system, road leveling and site
preparation, according to
Kennedy.
Kennedy also told the com
mission in Its last meeting that
the development could mean
that the Port of Morrow would
have one of the finest food
processing parks In the Pa
cific Northwest.
