Proposed at Doardman
By RI PE KENNEDY
Port of Morrow Coordinator
BOARDMAN. Ore -The Port
of Morrow unveiled plans for a
350-acre food processing park
on land it owns at Boardman
and serviced by the Union
Pacific mainline and Interstate
80N. Rupert Kennedy, the port
coordinator, said the proposed
park, capable ol accommo
dating seven to ten tenants, is
composed of 400-ft. wide lots
connected by 13.100 ft of rail and
9050 ft. of access roads.
Site development costs have
been estimated at $2.26 million
with grading of overburden into
gravel excavation ponds esti
mated at SI 8 million.
Kennedy said efforts would be
made to have a port inter
change on Interstate 80N
approved. Presently the free
way has an interchange at
Boardman to the west and
another at the U.S.730 junction
to the east.
The port has retained a
Portland engineering firm to
plot the park.
The port intends to submit an
application for an Economic
Development Administration
grant to finance development of
the park site.
