4-H
MERRY MIXERS
The second meeting of thev
Merry Mixers 4-H Cooking Club
was held November 14, at the
home of our leader, Mrs. Pat
Pettyjohn. Four members were
present.
First we discussed the in
gredients that constitute a yeast
bread. From the drawing board
we went to work with the actual
dough. Our leader had prepared
a sweet dough beforehand and it
was ready to knead. We
kneaded the dough and placed it
in the oven to rise. Kathleen
McElligott then prepared "No
knead French Bread."
While the dough was rising we
talked about our next meeting.
We decided to prepare another
yeast product. We found a
no-rise roll recipe and planned a
meal around it. For our next
meeting we will have: Ha
waiian medely, chow-mein
noodles, green beans and water
chesnuts, hot rolls, orange
marmalade, and ice cream
balls rolled in coconut for
dessert. This authentic Ha
waiian Luau menu fits in with
our foreign foods project book.
Our leader served Ail
American chocolate chip
cookies, donuts, and Russian
tea for refreshments.
After this we returned to the
kitchen and shaped the French
bread and cinnamon rolls.
Everyone took an unbaked
sample home.
Our next meeting will be on
November 28 at the home of our
leader.
