small wedding was attended
by relatives and a few close
friends. The women of the
church, under the direction of
Mrs. William Arthur, assisted
the couple in planning a

living in lone.

Club Members
To Make
Christmas Swags
The November meeting of
the lone Garden Club was held
at the home of Mrs. Wallace
Wolff last Wednesday. Mrs.
F.d Cutting and Mrs. James
Driscoll were co-hostesses.
The Garden Club welcomed
a new member. Mrs. Kiley
Munkcrs and presenter her
with a green thumb. Year
books were assembled and
distributed.
Mrs. Wolff w as appointed to
represent the lone Garden
Club in the district project of
plant identification on the
Bombing Range. Mrs. Gar
Swanson reported the floral
arrangements made by
garden club members dis
played at the Bank of Eastern
Oregon in lone this summer
and fall have been greatly
admired and appreciated. The
members voted to feature the
arrangements at the bank
instead of their usual fall
flower show.
Mrs. Van Hubbard, presi
dent of the club, appointed a
committee to make Christinas
swags for the business houses
in lone. Mrs. Swanson gave a
short talk on "What the
American Hag Means to Me".
Mrs. Wolff showed slides on
bird feeders and bird houses
and gave some hints on their
construction. Following the
business meeting many of the
members started work on the
construction of either a bird
house or bird feeder.

The lone PTA met Thurs
day November 9th. They wish
to tell everyone that there are
money cans set up in Bris
lows, the Tavern and the Bank
of F.aslern Oregon for Christ
mas candy. Anyone wishing to
contribute to the Christmas
fund please do so.
Mr. Hon Daniels gave a talk
on the Long Kange Planning
Program for Schools. This is a
building improvement pro
gram that will be voted on in
December by the public.
The lone Kainbow Assembly
had a traveling food sale Nov.
11. It was very successful.
Mrs. Lillian (Troedson)
Wilkinson of Portland, form
ally of lone, died Thursday.
She is an Aunt of Paul Tews.
The Tews attended the funeral
in Portland.
The lone Garden Club met
at Mrs. Wallace Wolffs'. Vida
Ileliker demonstrated how
to make winter bird feeders.
Irene Swanson reported on the
American flag and what it
meant to her.
Shrine Caravan
On Nov. 10 the annual
Shriners' caravan started out
from near Boise, Idaho and
proceeded west gathering
cars, people and gifts as they
went along. Herm Winter,
John Wood, Claude Graham
and Don Gilliam from Morrow
County joined the caravan at
Bnardman when they stopped
for lunch. Les Grant joined at
Arlington. They took about
75-100 doz. cookies, 700 lbs. of
potatoes, from D O. Nelson,
and $10,280 in cash. The $280
was local contributions and
$l0.(Ki0was a bequest from an
estate. Mr. Winter's car was
the 5(ith in the caravan and
there were plenty behind hm
by the time they arrived at the
P'ortland Shriner's Hospital.
On Saturday Mr. Winter anu
those with him had the
opportunity to enjoy a beauti
ful, sunny day in Portland by
attending the California -Oregon
State football game
which turned out to be very

Shirley Baker and Handy
Tachella were united in
marriage Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. at
St. Williams Catholic Church
in lone. The Kev, Raymond
Beard officiated. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
David Baker of lone and the
bridegroom is the son of
Beverly McCloud and Ralph
Tachella of Pendleton.
The bride wore a white lace
over satin dress with empire
lines and a short train. Her
bouffant veil was held in place
by a cluster of petals outlined
in seed pearls. She carried a
bouquet f white daisies,
yellow roses and baby breath.
Her father escorted her down
the aisle and gave her in
marriage.
The bride's sisters were her
attendants. Mrs. Jerry
Kindrick was matron of honor
and Debra Baker and Mrs.
Jeff Burnett were brides
maids. They wore floor length
dresses in autumn colors. The
matron of honor wore a vacado
and the bridesmaids wore
rust. Each wore a matching
ribbon headdress. The carried
colonials of yellow button
mums and white daisies.
Best man was Casey Ander
son, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Robert Baker
and Jerry Kindrick. Jeff
Burnett was candle lighter.
Music .
Miss Susan Carey sang two
songs, accompanied by Mrs.
Dale Bennett of Pilot Rock
who also played the nuptial
music.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Baker wore a blue double
knit with navy blue acces
sories. Mrs. McCloud wore a
beige and brown ensemble
with brown accessories.

home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry
O'Neal. The two tiered wedd
ing cake was decorated with
lavender and white sweet peas
and topped with bouquet of
flowers. Approximately
twenty-five guests were pre
sent. Mr. and Mrs. Sargent
will make their home in
Kinzua where Dale is em
ployed by Kinzua Corporation.

Portland and Mrs. Susan
Orton of Woodburn. Teri

Going Away
For going away the bride
wore a blue plaid pants suit
with green accessories. After
a wedding trip to Reno, the
couple will reside in Pendle
ton. The bride is a graduate of
St. Mary of the Valley High
School at Beaverton and is
now employed at St. Anthony
Hospital in Pendleton. The
groom attended Big Bend
Community College at Moses
Lake and is employed at
Harris Pine Mills.'
