Dinner Tonight
The annual fall dinner
meeting of the Morrow County
Wheatgrowers Association
will be held tonight Thursday,
November 16th at the lone
Legion Hall in lone at 6.30
pm.
The speaker for the evening
will be Dr. Clinton Reeder,
Extension Marketing Man
agement Specialist. His
speech is entitled "Horse and
Buggy Marketing."
JYesident Jerry Myers says,
all wheatgrowers and wives

The dinner will be served by
the Legion Auxiliary. The cost

To Go
Improvements have been
made at the Arbuckle Ski
Course and the requirements
for the Forest Service special
use permit have been com
pleted. The tow poles have
been reset, the county crews
and Forest service have laid
diversion ditches across the
slope under the tow. The
landings have been repaired.

be in the party accompanied
by an assistant under secre
tary, a Turkish interpreter, an
AID representative. With
them will be Tom Zinn, former
Gilliam County agent who is
now in Turkey, and Rex

Jim Rogers, pnotograpner,
who was at the Gazette-Times
Monday took portraits of 48
families and individuals for a
total of nearly 500 pictures.
For the last several weeks, an
8 X 10 picture was free with
each new or renewal sub

Times. Cards will be sent out in
about two weeks when proofs
can be seen at the Gazette-Times.

Two Warrens Killed In Seattle Crash
The community was stunn
ed last weekend when word
was received from Seattle of
the three-car accident that
took the lives of a brother and
sister and her friend.
Details of the wreck are
sketchy but it occurred about
9:30 Friday evening. Killed
instantly were Linda Kay
Warren 23 and her friend
known here only as Russ.
Dennis Delbert Warren, 26,
driver of the car, died in a
Seattle Hospital about six
hours later. Parents of the two
are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Warren of Heppner. Other
survivors are a sister, Barb
ara Warren Bloodsworth of
Heppner and a brother,
Arthur of lone. Dennis' twin
sister, Diane, was killed in an
auto accident here in October
1964.
Dennis is also survived by a
son, Dennis Raymond Warren
and a daughter, Kimberly.
Dawn Warren, both of
Heppner.
Arthur was hunting in the
mountains and Mrs. Bloods
worth went to the mountains
to tell him of the accident.
Graveside services were
held Tuesday at High View
Cemetery. Contributions may
be made to the Warren
Scholarship fund at the Bank '
of Eastern Oregon or Sweeney '
Mortuary in Heppner.
Debby Warren, junior at
Oregon State, accompanied by
her sister, Mrs. Victor Klinger
and Sheridan of Portland
came home to spend this week
with the family. They are
daughters of Arthur Warren.
Episcopal Church
Bazaar
The Episcopal Church's
annual Bazaar, "A Christmas
Fair", will be held this
Saturday, Nov. 18 from 11
a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Episcopal
Church Parish Hall. Luncheon
will be served from 11 a.rn.
and a door prize will be given
away. The door prize is a
lovely large candle which is on
display at Murray's Drugs
along with some other gifts
which will be for sale at the
bazaar. There are also some
gifts displayed at Sears.

Morning
Collision
Passengers in two cars were
considerably shook up Sunday
morning when they collided in
front of the Paul Warren home
north of Heppner. Mr. and
Mrs. Leland Millman were
turning left to enter the
Warren driveway when Curtis
Cutsforth attempted to pass.
Both cars were driveable
and no one required
immediate medical care. Don
Wilson was a passenger in the
Cutsforth car. Sheriff Molla
han investigated.
Vosbergs Move
From Condon
Mr. and Mrs. Keith Vosberg
and family have moved from
Condon to Morrow County.
They have rented the Walter
Jepsen place on Keck Canyon.
Four of their children are still
at home. Randy, junior in high
school; Susan 7th grade and
John and Steven, pre
schoolers. Randy will be assisting his
father in his new cleaning
business to be known as
Spectrum Janitorial Service.
Their slogan is "No job too

Mental Health Office Here
If you are wondering if there
really is a mental health office
in Morrow County, you're
probably thinking of it as just
that; an office. Of course the
Mental Health Service will
have a real office soon, with a
telephone, a secretary and
furniture, as well as someone
to help you with your emo
tional problems. However,
there is much that can be done
without an office. While wait
ing for the remodelling to be
finished at 128 W. Willow,
Director David Mitchum has
been meeting with Morrow
County citizens and officials
from the various agencies in
several towns in order to
answer questions about the
program and to work on
procedures needed to deal
with the problems as people
see them. It is hoped some of
those questions and problems
can be dealt with in the
GAZETTE-TIMES from time
to time.
One of the first questions
which needs to be answered is
"Why do we need a Mental
Health Service for Morrow

Linda Kay Warren, age 23,
died in an auto accident Nov.
10 in Seattle. She was born
May 19, 1949 in The Dalles,
Oregon, the daughter of
Clarence Warren and Evelyn

In relation to population,
Morrow County is second in
the Northeast part of the state
in the rate of admissions to
Eastern State Hospital.
Around sixty-eight per cent of
these people have a problem
with alcohol. In a recent issue
of the GAZETTE-TIMES you
read of the concern regarding
the increase in VD ; a problem
which leads to organic brain
disease if not treated. People
from Morrow County have
been attending the Umatilla
Mental Health services for
over two years, often driving
some distance. School officials
have stated they have several
children with problems whom
they are waiting to refer and
the Juvenile Counselor for
Morrow County has a number
in her supervision whom she
indicates may need more
intensive counseling.
If as many people come on
their own as have informally
indicated during the past two
weeks, the old "Dr.
McMurdo's office" will be full
of people again - asking for
help of a different kind.

Queen. She is the daughter of

Jeanne was informed of the
decision on Friday when her
parents called her in Pendle
ton. What was her reaction?
Jeanne said "I about died it
was such a shock."

cousin Marty Neeley, Pendle
ton as she keeps up her studies

At a meeting of the Morrow
County Fair Board on Nov. 8 Schlichting, who has been

Harvey' in final practices
With hopes of a good crowd
during Thanksgiving vaca
tion, the cast and crew of
'Harvey' are reaching the
final stages of preparation
before dress rehearsal, set for
Tuesday, Nov. 21.
Mrs. Bill Rawlins, director,
has announced this week that
anyone who will be unable to
attend the regular perform
ances of the play because of
the holidays may come to
dress rehearsal. Regular
admission prices will be in
effect.
The play is the robust
comedy about Elwood P.
Dowd, (John, Rawlins,) who
owns and lives with an
invisible six-foot rabbit,
Harvey. The rabbit causes
problems at the home of

Mrs. Sweeney Has Surgery
Tiny Sweeney underwent
major surgery last week in
Hermiston. She was expected
to be back home the middle of
this week.

heart attack Oct. 26th is still in
Pioneer Memorial Hospital
receiving treatment.
Chuck Nelson went into the
Army Wednesday Nov. 8th. He
is stationed at Fort Ord at the

she can go on her "fancy
crutches" to class.
Jeanne says she is slim,
trim and ready and is already

their outfits. She will be riding
a spirited 5-year old by the
name of Red Leo.

Heppner Rodeo Court is noth
ing new to Jeanne who was
princess in 1971.
