NHS Plans
Progressive
Dinner
The Heppncr High chapter
of National Honor Society is
planning a progressive dinner,
tentatively scheduled for Oct.
31. Portions of the meal will he
served at various students'
homes both in town and in the
country.
The group is also planning
several other activities for the
fall. An apcarance in the
Homecoming float parade,
traveling food sale, cleaning
of the tree-planters on Main
Street, decoration of the
Pioneer Memorial Hospital's
nursing home for Christmas,
and tapping and initiation of
new members into NHS later
in the full have all been
discussed.

churches at 3:30 p m, and the
first stop will be the lone

their first course.

will be raffled by the Heppner
High student body at the
Sherman Heppner game Oct.
27, to help defray the cost of
the band who will play for the
Homecoming dance following
the game.
Tickets will be on sale at the
grandstand entrance.
Fillies earn
wins; plan for
District
The Heppner High girls'
volleyball A team will be at
the District Competition in
Condon Oct. 28, along with the
three other teams from the
Western Area and the four
teams from the Eastern
District. Playing for the A
team will be Cyde Allstott,
captain; Susan llealy, Jean
and Joan Cbristman, Kristi
Haguewood and Donna
Bellamy. Alternates will be
Anita Davidson, Tami Toll
und Kimmee Lou Haguewood.
The team's league record is
three wins and two losses, not
including the games that were
played Oct. 24 against
Maupin.
After beating the three
league teams once, the teams
in the district began re-playing
each other. The HHS girls
lost to both Sherman and
Condon. In very close
contests, the Fillies lost to
Sherman 16-14 and 17-15, and
to Condon 15-7 and 15-5.
The other Fillie teams ran
into some bad luck also, and
ull three of them lost their
contests to Condon. At Sher
man, the D team won 15-9 and
15-G but the C and B groups
lost their matches.
The public is invited to the
District Competition at
Condon High School Oct. 28,
which will last all day.
