returned Irom a vacation
spent on the Kast Coast,
visited their son. K()2 Stephen
Lindstrom, who is stationed at
Cheatham Annex with the
Seabees near Williamsburg.
Va. Alter seeing the many
historical sights at Jamestown
and Williamsburg, Stephen
drove them to Washington,
DC, w.icre they went sight
seeing lor four days and then
look the Metro train to New
York City. An interesting
three days were spent there,
including a taping of the
television show. ' What's My
Line", tours ol the United
Nations. Kockerfeller Center.
Empire State Building, and a
cruise around Manhattan
Island. On the flight to the
East and coming home the

Marv Langston is the new
English teacher at Ione.Comes
from Portland and is a 1972
graduate of Willamette Uni
versity. She has occasionally
traveled into Eastern Oregon.
But moving to lone to teach
has been the first time to stay
anv length of time.
While it is closely related
with her work she lists reading

Eventually she plans to
return to school to learn
photography. She wants to
take pictures to illustrate her
poetry. She is saving her
money for a trip to Europe
next year.
Donna Waibel
Donna Waibel is the new
Business Education teacher at
lone High School and will
teach Home Ec. one semester.
Her home is at Hillsboro and
she is a 1970 graduate of
Portland State. She has had an
interesting two years since
graduating from college. She
has been visiting and working
in Switzerland and Kenya in
Africa. She was working in
what is known as "provision
stores". "They are similar to
a grocery store only they don't
carry such a complete line as
the grocery stores in the
United States," she said. She
formerly spent a summer in
Eastern Oregon so she has
returned to Eastern Oregon
"Because I like it".
She learned to ski in
Switzerland a little bit and is
looking forward to trying the
slopes up at Arbuckle this
winter. She is an outdoor
person as she likes horseback
riding, backpacking, camping,
and photography.

Holden Village, bordering
the Wilderness Area of the
Washington Cascade Mount
ains, was the destination of
Mr. and Mrs. F.T. Martin,
lone, on I-abor Day Weekend.
This lovely area, accessible
only by boat, on Lake Chelan,
from Chelan. Washington, is a
resort and retreat area owned
by the Lutherans. The Village
is located 13 miles from
Lucerne, Washington and is a
model mining town that hous
es stores, dormitories, recrea
tional areas, etc.
The Martins were joined by
their son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Martin,
Othello, Washington. The four
days, were spent in hiking on
the 18 different trails leading
from the Village, and viewing
the beautiful scenery. The
longest trail is 36 miles. The
Martins back-packed on sev
eral trails for one day trips.
They are also planning a
trip to the North Cascades on
the newly opened Highway 20
in Washington. Accompanying
them on this trip will be Mrs.
Martin's parents, Mr. and
Mrs. R.S. Horton, of Dallas,
Oregon.
