The huge development may
become a full-fledged plywood
mill and will mean a surge
in the population of Heppner
and other south end towns.
A new recreational project
is Lake Penland, about 25
miles south of Heppner. It
was financed by a group of
tract owners and created a
brand new lake of 67 acres.
A camp ground is being devel
oped there.
Some of the people w ho ap
preciate that the past is a
true guide to the future find
pleasure and satisfaction in
visiting the Morrow County
Museum and Library. Some
get a real charge from col
lecting artifacts that con
cretely show how earlier ci
tizens lived.
This year Heppner passes
from its founding century.
