ing to the Oregon Senator.
The Task Force, at Its me

tes' plan for economic deve
lopment, the Senate Task
Force is charged ith desig
ning a legislative program of

velopment. To assist tn drawing up
this program, Senator Jern
stedt announced the Task For
ce will conduct public hear
ings around the state to find
out how residents in each
community feel toward eco
nomic growth in their areas.
A meeting in The Dalles
has been scheduled for Thurs
day, August 17.
"I am asking the Task For
ce to come to the Mid-Columbia
Kivr area and listen
to what the people want and
need from the state. It they
do want assistance in attra
cting Industry to this area,
I think the Task Force can
help, Senator Jernstedt said.

had given approval Thursday
for a lease to C & II Kilter

gravel along the port wharf
frontage of three sections. The
firm has a lease agreement
with the State of Oregon.
At their meeting Thursday
the port also gave approval to
another lease lor a hall section
of port land to Desert Magic
for farm development. Ken
nedy said two sprinklers
would be installed on the site
Kennedv said his ofdee is in
constant touch with the Mili
tary Affairs Committees in
Washington. D C. in the inter
est of relocating the Hoard
man Bombing Range, and that
the study now under wav by
the Navv on possible reloca
tion is the first indication on
the part of the Navy that it is
considering a move, and that
he is optimistic about the re
location prospects.
The Women's Activity Com
mittee of Greenfield Grange
met at the grange hall last
week, starting with a fruit
salad potluck luncheon. Mrs.
Rollin Bishop was a guest.
Card party hostesses for the
next five weeks will be: Aug.
15, Mrs. Bishop; Aug. 22, Mrs.
Bill Bates; Aug. 29, Mrs.
Walter Haves; Sept. 5, Mrs.
W.G. Seehafer; Sept. 12, Mrs.
Donald Baker
It was voted to have another
fruit salad potluck at the hall
for the next meeting to be held
Sept. 13. Mrs. Seehafer will be
hostess.
There were two tables of
pinochle in play at the card
party held Tuesday of last
week at the Greenfield Grange
hall, sponsored by the Wo
men's Activity Committee of
the grange. Mrs. Frank Mar
low was hostess.
