new features with the Queen's
Coronation, Aug. i;. There is
to be an old fashioned style

show and the Jaycee beird
contest. The big show will
start at 7.30 p.m. on Aug. 12

Frank Turner drew ap

harvest was somewhat disap

frosts. It is hoped wheat
from higher altitudes will
show improvements.
The potato crop is re
ported very good and prices
are the best since 1964. The
D.O. Nelson s Norgolds are
making 30 tons to the acre

reported last week at about
$120 a ton.
Tnere's a good price and

Mr. Kerr said it was hop
ed they could invite people,
particularly from the North
End, for a tour of the south
end this year. President Dick
said it would be a good idea
to include a tour of the Lake
Penland recreation area. The
Forest Service is working on
facilities up there. Discus
sion indicated it might be af
