Slumber Party
A slumber party was held
June 1 at the Donald Robin
son ranch. Hosted by her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robin
son, Krynn Robinson enter
tained overnight guests as
a fitting climax to the end of
the school year. The girls
participated in a treasure
hunt, games, quizzes and lis
tened to records; interspres
ed by a weiner and marsh
mallow roast, pauses for
cookies and ice cream, and
ending in a sleepless night
for all. A buffet break
fast was enjoyed at 9:00 the
next morning before the girls
returned home.

fair were Pam Cantin, Cin
dy Dougherty, Lynne Gocti
nauer, Janice Heaiy, Dee Hed
man, Laurie Malcom, Sheree
Marquardt, Susan McConnell,
Cathy Palmer, Sally Sumner,
Shelly Thompson, Lori Turn
er and Joan Warren. Also
present for the evening be
sides the Robinson family was
Debbie Yocom, who assisted
in the food preparation and
games.

Lori Dunlap walked off with
more than her share of ho
nors at the Junior High
Awards assembly last Thurs
day. Her letter is in track
where she entered the dis
cus, the shot put, high jump,
and hurdles. Certificate of
Award for Pep Club trea
surer. $23 bond from the
Soroptimist Club for out
standing 8th grade student
and $10 check from the Hep
pner American Legion Aux
iliary for 1st place in the
Americanism Essay Contest.
She will be a freshman at
Heppner High School next
year. This summer she will
attend a Gymnastic Clinic
in Portland. She is the dau
ghter of Lynda Dunlap and she
has a brother Dyrk, Junior
next fall.
LUCY HUBER is home
for the summer with her
folks, Dr. and Mrs. H.S. Hu
ber. She attends Laurelwood
Academy in Portland. She
will be a Junior next year.
She is helping out at her
Dad's office until Grace
Buschke is able to be back
full time.

Centennial Art
Show Voted
Huge Success
The Art Show held in con
junction with the Pioneer
Memorial Picnic was the Cen
tennial effort of local artists.
It was so admired that the
hope to make it an annual
affair and next year nuke it
county-wide.
The parade of 70 paintings
lined the fair pavillion on all
four walls. Dr. Margaret
McDevitt came over from
Pendleton Friday to help hang
the paintings. Others helping
were Fred Nelson, Shirley
McNary and Daisy Lyston.
Betty Brown and Rachel Dick
acted as co-chairmen. Old
buildings, landmarks, mo
derns, beginners and advanc
ed were featured in the dis
play. Betty Bunch showed
the Woolery House in lone,
Betty Brown the Court House
picture that hangs in the Ma
honey & Abrams office, Kris
ten Nelson the old round barn,
Norman Nelson a picture
painted from an authentic old
picture of himself, his bro
' ther Fred and his sister El
len in a little red buggy in
front of the Nelson ranch
home; Del Piper a grizzled
old miner, Pauline Matheny
portrait of an Indian Chief
and Nellie Anderson a bou
quet of old fashioned flo
wers, to name a few.
Pete and Mary McMurtry
had on display an original
painting of Celilo Falls done
by a Portland artist in water
colors.

Members ot the immediate
families were preent for the
marriage of Kathy A rrington
and Jon Hednun June 3 in
the County Court Chambers.
Judge Paul Jones performed
the double ring ceremony.
Kathy wore a white with navy
dress and navy accessories.
Kelly Kilkenny and Scott Mc
Daniel were the attendants.
Kathy is the daughter of
Mrs. Darlene Arrin?ton and
granddaughter of Mrs.
Blanche Wise. Jon is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Hed
nun. A reception was held at
the Hedman home to which
friends were invited. Mrs.
Wise served the three-tierred
cake topped by a kissing
couple in a gazebo. Nona
Sowell served the punch and
Dale Arrington had the guest
book.
The young couple left for
a few days camping at a lake
in Central Oregon.
MR. & MRS. JIMDRISCOLL
camped and traveled through
southern Oregon and north
ern Calif, on a recent two
weeks vacation. Snow was
piled 12 feet high on either
side of the road as they
went through Mt. Lassen
Park. They stopped at Unity
Lake on their way home and
caught some beautiful trout.

granddaughter Mrs. Tom
Troxell of Spray to Hermis
ton May 28 for Loren Hop
per's graduation from Her
tniston High School. They
were guests at the Robert
Hoppers until Tuesday.
