early day experiences, dat

first came to Irrigon from
Colorado nth her parents,

She reniemhered that Irri
gon at one time had a ho
tel, a drug store and a news
paper, called the Irrigon Ir
rigator. The nit-ht the Drug
Store hurtied to the ground,
she remembered ell the Hal
loeen party, in the upstairs
Community Hall, over the Eg
bert Wadsiorth General
Store. It as next door
to the Drut store and as the
building burned the windows
liecaiiie hot. Dr. and Mrs.
Beck who were both ptarmi
cists, had left the dog in the
house nth a kerosene lamp
burning, evidently the dog
had overturned the lamp.

postmaster, Mrs. Fager
strom described him as a

tion for helping to promote
the completion of the irri
gation project here.
Her brother, Merrill DoUe
learned the printing trade in
Echo. After he was mar
ried he returned to Irrigon
and worked for Addison Ben
nett as a printer. He later
moved to Pendleton where he
carried mail and eventually
became postmaster. Eve
Doble as she was then known,
wrote the school news for
the paper.

and assisted the audience par
ticipation in a parent-teenager
dialogue at the fifth ses
sion of the Family Life Se
ries on May 3. The object
ol the dialogue was for each
(jiarent and teen ager) to
learn and to communicate his
own desires and feelings in
a manner which recognizes
and relieves hostility rather
than deniesand repressesand
thus prolongs ill feeling. The
two therapists illustrated
their methods and comments
with actual experiences they
have had at the Youth Care
Center.
YOUTH ADVENTURES is
the only center in Oregon
which is co-ed. The present
population is 29 equall) divid
ed lietween boys and girls.
The young people live in cot
tages with house-parents a
husband and life team who
relate well to youth. Most
house-parents are in their
late twenties.
