RETURNS
Bob Baker, son of Mr. and
Mrs-. David Baker, returned
home on Feb. 15 after com
pleting three years of ser
vice with the army. A gra
duate of lone High School
and of Salem Tech, Bob was
stationed in Vietnam prior
to his discharge. Also home
for the weekend were the
Baker's daughters, Shirley
aiid Debbie, students at St.
Mary's Academy In Beaver
ton. The Mid-Columbia Minis
terial Association met Feb.
15 at the lone United Church
of Christ. Representatives
from Milton-Freewater, Ingle
Chapel, Condon, The Dalles,
Cascade Locks, and lone were
present for the Conference.
The speaker was Rev. Bill
Nix, from the conference
office in Portland. A lunch
eon was served by members
of the host church.

son, Spokane, were guests of
the Louis Carlson family dur
ing the Feb. 11-13 weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Garland
Swanson left Feb. 12 for a
business trip to Portland,
where they stayed with his
brother and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Norman Swanson. The
Swanson' s were also guests
of their son and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Dennis Swanson,
Auburn, Wash. While there,
the Swanson's watched their
a sixth grade basketball
game. The Swanson's re
turned to lone on Feb. 18.
CWA met in the home of
Mrs. Marion Palmer this past
week with Mrs. Lee Palmer
serving as co-hostess. There

Mr. and Mrs. Bill McColn
are presently following the
Rodeo Cowboys Association
Circuit. Mr. McColn has been
competing in the saddle bronc
events, the first of which was
held in Denver. From there,
they traveled to Amarllloand
Fort Worth, both in Texas.
The couple are now in San
Antonio, Texas. From there,
they will move on to Hous
ton, Texas and Phoenix, Ariz
ona. They plan to return home
in March.
Mrs. Norman Nelson was
a representative to the Home
Economics Extension Ad
visory Committee on Feb. 21.
The meeting was conducted
at the home of Juanita Ryan,
Irrigon. Plans were made
for the Homemakers Festival
at Boardman, on April 21.

Geo. Sicord Passes
BOARDMAN-George M. Si
card, a resident of Boardman
for the past 26 years, died
Sunday In the Good Shepherd
Hospital In Hermiston. He
would have been 68 years old
Feb. 21. Mr. Sicard was
born Feb. 21, 1904 in Bot
tineau, N. Dak., the son of
Maxim and Emma Sicard, one
of eight children. He came
to Oregon with his family in
1922 and they lived at Wood
burn. He was married to Pearl
Parks in Vancouver, Wash.,

Survivors Include the widow

Los Angeles, Calif.; two
sisters, Fedella Prather of
Woodburn and Melvina Smith
of Stockton, Calif.; and six
grandchildren.
Mr. Sicard was a member
of St. Patrick's Catholic
Church In Irrigon.
Funeral services were to be
held Wednesday at Our Lady
of Angels Catholic Cburcb
In Hermiston. The Rosary
was recited at 8 p.m. at
Burns Mortuary In Hermis
ton Tuesday. Burial was in
Boardman Rivervlew Ceme
