LEGAL NOTICE
The Columbia Basin Electric
Cooperative, Inc., of 171 W. Lin
den Way, Heppner, announces
that it is making an applica
tion for a loan from the Rural
Electrification Admlnistrat i o n
which provides for the construc
tion of about twenty-nine and
seven tenths (29.7) miles of
69,000 volt transmission line,
The transmission lines will be
located In Morrow and Gilliam
Counties in two separate parts.
One will extend the present 69,-
000 volt transmission system
from Heppner to Hardman via
Ruggs with a distribution sub
station at Ruggs. The other sec
tion will extend the transmis
sion network from Jordan to a
point near Olex with a second
distribution substation to be
built.
These facilities will make it
possible for the Cooperative to
meet the Increasing demand of
the present consumers with a
more reliable and stable source
of power plus providing service
to an estimated 110 new con
sumers including newly devel
oping irrigation projects.

Boardman s Council
Sets Census Count

man City Council voted last
week to take a new census of
the city. The Oregon State Cen
ter for Population Research will
be In charge of the count. The
city's population Is estimated
to be- about 250 at present.
When the census was taken In
1970 the state listed it at 117.
but a recount brought a total

Flu Bug Hits
ihe flu bug has hit the com
munity of Boardman in full
force. Between 15 and 20 cases
are unofficially known. Mrs.
Harold Rash has been in the
Umatilla Hospital with the flu
since last Friday. Due to the
illness of Pastor and Mrs. Nell
King there were no church ser
vices fiunday at the Boardman
Community Church. Besides the
flu a number of people are sick
with cows.
