Salary Consultations Begin October 19
The Morrow County School
Board met with representatives
of the teachers and classified
employees at a special meeting
in Lexington on Oct. 5. The pur
pose of the meeting was to es
taMih a meeting calendar and
consultation guidelines ior fu
ture meetings.
The consultation meeting
with teacher representatives will
be about the same as In past
years The consultation meet
incs with representatives cf the
classified employees, (cooks,
custodians, secretaries and bus
drivers) will be held for the
first time this year. These nwet
(ings are required by law as a
result of legislation passed by
the 1971 legislature.
The areas open for consulta
tion by both groups are salar
ies and salary related lteirui a
well as grievance procedure.
OEA-OSEA Chapters Heprnt
In elections held earlier thU
year. It was determined that the
Morrow County Chapter of the
Oregon Education Association
would represent the teachers
and the Morrow County Chap
ter of the Oregon School Em
ployees Association would rep
resent the classified Employees.
The principals in the school dis
trict decided not to enter into
formal alary consultations and
their salary schedule will be de
termined by the school board
without holding consultation
meetings.
The meeting schedule calls
for the first meeting to be held
on Oct. 19. 1971. at which time
both group will present their
proposals to sub committees of
the school board for their con
sideration. Discussions on the
proposal will continue at three
futu.ro meetings with a settle
ment being reached by Nov. 23.
1971. If an agreement has not
been reached by Nov. 23. the
matter will be referred to medi
ation as required by law. 1
