Bridegroom Wears Air Force Uniform , . - On August 14 at the Heppner Christian Church, Linda Sue rexiyjonn, daughter or Mr. ana Mrs. James Pettyjohn, of lone, became the bride of David Wil liam Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wright of Heppner. Pastor Don V. Johnson officiat ed at the double ring candle light ceremony. The bride chose an informal wedding and follow e d her white and yellow colors with her wedding dress. Given in marriage by her father she wore a street length sleeveless polyester knit. The v-neckline was accented with a yellow scarf. She carried a bouquet of yellow centered daisies and white carnations with white lace festoons. Marsha Ball was the bride's only attendent. She wore a yel low dotted swiss dress and car- ers. The bridegroom wore his Air Force uniform. Hal Bergstrom was his best man. Ushers were Dean Wright, brother of the bridegroom and Jerry Petty john, the bride's brother. Mrs. Paul Tews was organist. The church was decorated with yellow and white daisies and gladiolus arranged in picture baskets. Pews were marked with yellows bows. Yellow and white tapers were in the can dleabra. Reception Follows The wedding reception was held in the church social room. The three-tiered bridal cake was topped with a bride and bridegroom and decorated with bells and yellow flowers. It was served by Mrs. Jack Hynd, aunt of the bride and Mrs. Leland McKinney. Pouring were Mrs. Eob Wright of Umatilla and Mrs. Clayton Wright of Herm iston. Diane Wright and Cindy Barnett arranged the gift table. Nancy Pettyjohn and Doris Mc Cabe were in charge of the guest book. Marlene Bergstrom and Mrs. Clyde Pettyjohn co chairmaned the kitchen. There was a get-together for the family at the Wright home later that evening. The bride chose to wear a floor length yellow hostess gown for the occasion. The young couple honey mooned a few days at the Wright mountain cabin. Renne Harris Here Friends enjoyed greeting Mi. and Mrs. Renne Harris and their three children Joseph 5, Carolyn 3 and Sean 8 months when they visited here last week. Renne, the son of Mrs. Mike Saling and grandson of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Harris, graduated from Heppner High School, Wil lamette University and is now a senior in the Church Divinity School of the Pacific at Berke ley. He assisted in the morning workshop at All Saints Episco pal Church Sunday. He met his wife while they were both students at William ette. She is the daughter of the Episcopal Bishop in Idaho. Sans Souci First Meeting Following summer recess It was back to regular meetings for Sans Souci Rebekah Lodge No. 33 on first meeting Septem ber 3 with Mary McMurtry, No ble Grand, presiding. She ex pressed concern at the low at tendance of members, stressing the importance of all turning out to prepare for the October visitation of State Assembly pres ident. Reviewed was the community service participated in by mem bers during the past three months. Ill members were report ed on, and it seemed the list was too many, cards were pre pared to send to each of them. Lodge chairmen were urged to report as required to their respec tive State officers. Hosting the social hour follow ing lodge was Mildred Padberg serving delicious refreshments. Some groups will meet this month to plan their year's ac tivities and others will start with the first study lesson in October. Project leader-teacher train ing will be given for the Oc tober study lesson "Which Wig" on September 22 starting at 10 a.m. at the new Indian Hills Motor Inn conference room. Each study group should have two pro ject leader teachers at the meet ing. Photo by Terry Peck OSU Seniors Marry in Heppner Mrs. Green Has Guests Mrs. Alex Green was sur prised Monday before the Fair with a call from The Dalles fiom her niece, Mrs. Lois Shores and her daughter accompanied by a friend Merlee Shandler of Van Nuys, Cadif.. They were overnight guests of Mrs. Green. Mrs. Shores was born here but left when she was 2 years old. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Scott Bryant. She enjoyed look ing up several of her Green cousins that she hadn't seen. She was 12 years old the lalst time Mrs. Green had seen her. Visiting Mrs. Green for the Rodeo were her grand daugh ters, Mary and Barbara Mc Caleb. They also took In the Wr.-jjnglers' Breakfast . They were fascinated by the rodeo as they had never seen anything like it. They are daughters ot Mr. and Mrs. Omer McCaleb. Mrs. McCaleb will be remem bered as Ruth Green. High school and college sweet hen rts, Nancy Judith Doherty and Steven Dean Pettyjohn were united in mariage Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Heppner. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ber nard J. Doherty and the bride groom, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pettyjohn. Father Ray mond H. Beard read the cere mony. The bride given in marriage by her father wore a high waisted dress of shantung crepe with fitted bodice which had rose lace inset. The full gathered skirt was floor length. She wore a rose lace veil and carried white daisy and rose cascading bouquet. Her sister, Maureen Doherty was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Martha Doherty, Becky Doherty, both sisters of the bride and Dee Ann Pettyjohn, sister of the bridegroom. The girls wore dresses the same style of the bride's in lavender, peach, blue and yellow ripple crepe. They carried bouquets of pastel daisies and baby breath. The gowns were all made by tha bride's mother. John Rawlins was best man and ushers were Russell Kil kenny, Larry Pettyjohn, the bridegroom's brother and Eric Graves, his cousin. Mrs. Paul Tews accompanied John Conlon as he sang Ave Maria and Panls Angehcus, She also played the nuptial music. The church was deco rated with pastel daisy and gladiolus arrangements. Mothers Wear Blue and Beige Mrs. Doherty wore a blue knit dress and coat with lace sleeves. Mrs. Pettyjohn chose a beige dress with stand-up collar with accent buttons on a diagonal line. The reception in honor of the young couple was held at the country home of the bride's parents. Here again the pastel multi-colors of the wedding were used in the daisy and gladiolus flower arrangements. The three-tiered wedding cake was made and decorated by Mrs. Robert Davidson of Lex ington. They will graduate i n June, Mr. Pettyjohn with an engineering degree and Mrs. Pettyjohn with a degree in journalism. Marriage Announced Mr. and Mrs. David Barnett of lone would like to announce the marriage of their daughter Deb bie, to Lance Cpl. Phil Ayers. The young couple were married August 11 in Carson City, Nev. Debbie graduated from Gresham High school in 1969, then attend ed Airline School In Portland. She is now employed in Portland. Phil, a 1969 graduate is stationed in Camp Pendleton, Calif. Deb bie will quit her job in Portland October 1 to make their home in California. Here For Labor Day Mr. and Mrs. Michael Elder of Eugene visited here over the Labor Day weekend. Mrs. Elder is the former Evelyn Jepsen. They visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jepsen and other relatives. Mrs. Elder teaches 5th & 6th grade at Meadow Lark School in Eugene and her husband Is District Scout Executive. He got In some archery hunting Another Couple Leaves For Mesa Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Vierson of Hermiston are leaving next week to spend the winter at Mesa, Arizona. Mrs. Vierson is the former Marjorie Baker of lone. They have received word that a tornado hit the area and had damaged their mobile home and tipped their travel trailer over on its side.
