Pvt. Gary Lee Wilhelm was
home on a weekend leave the
Fourth of July from the Army
at Ft. Lewis, Wash., where he
has been taking his basic train
ing and has been platoon lead
er of his company.
Gary graduated from basic
training July 9 and was sent off
by plane that night for Fort
Eustic, Va., where he is to be
in. school 9 weeks. He is going
to be an air machinist.
Gary is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. James L. Wilhelm, Hepp
ner. And their older son Joe,
with the Navy, came home and
spent the Fourth of July with
Gary and his folks. He is sta
tioned at Port Huneme, Calif. 1

Reports Loans and
Deposits Up
Earnings at First National
Bank of Oregon increased
slightly in the first six months
of 1971 compared to a similar
period . last year. Moderate in
creases were recorded in depos
its, loans and total resources.
Income before securities tran
sactions totaled $7,162,278 or
$1.35 per share for the period
ending June 30, compared with
$6,939,412 or $1.31 per share re
corded at mid-year 1970. This
represents a three per cent in
crease. Net income was $7,160,
878, also $1.35 per share, com
pared with $6,949,727 or $1.31
per share one year ago.
Deposit1) at Oregon's largest
bank rose 8.5 per cent to $1,-
666,276,410 at the end of the
first half compared with the
$1,536,264,052 recorded on June
30 of last year. Loan volume at
the bank's 122 statewide offices
increased 4.4 per cent to $1,
075,493,952 compared with the
$1,029,906,772 at the end of the
first six months of 1970. Resour
ces were $1,948,576,837, up from
the $1,766,849,929 one year ago.
The Heppner branch reported
deposits of $6,422,698 and loans
of $6,607,676 as of June 30, ac
cording to Harley Sager, mana
ger. - ', -
Comparable totals for the
branch a year ago were $6 117,-
014' in deposits and $5,884,269 in
loans.

The regular, meeting . of the
Camp 5 Women's Club was held
last Wednesday night at the
Camp 5 Community Hall with
seven members and two guests
present. Terry Todd was hostess
for the evening with Carol
Thomas, president, in charge of
the meeting. The guests were
Linda Lucas and Naydene Wil
cox. Terry Todd and Carol
Thomas will ; take care of the
Food Corner at the County Fair.
There will be a community
potluck dinner at the Camp 5

on to the Lava Caves near Bend.
