Senior Girls and
Mothers Invited
To Annual Tea
Invitations have gone out to
all senior girls at lone and
Heppner high schools inviting
them to a traditional, annual
event, the Heppner Soroptimist
Club's Mother and Daughter
Tea. Girls are asked to bring
grandmothers or aunts if moth
ers are unable to attend.
This year's tea is to be at
the Howard Pettyjohn residence
on the Heppner-Condon High
way just south of Heppner. The
Soroptimists are eager to become
better acquainted with the 1971
girls and to have the girls meet
the members of Morrow Coun
ty's only business women's club
Tea hours are from two un
til four in the afternoon of Sun
day, May 2.
DO CONSIDER going out to
the Homemakers Festival for at
least part of the day. You'll en
Joy the marvelous Indian dis
play. For a long time I have
felt that the Indians need to be
proud of their ways and learn
their own way those of making
moccasins and other skin work,
bead work, working with reeds,
music, dancing, language.
This display is an exhibit of
some of the things they are
now returning to doing.
Then if it s only part of the
day, plan to go about 1:30 to
see Curtis Lund s scenes of Ore
gon. Curtis was an engineer for
the Telephone Co. before he took
early retirement. He has taken
pictures all over the world and
then his clever wife puts to
gether the narration and back
ground music. You'll love see
ing these pictures and do stop
long enough to meet this charm
ing couple who have adopted
Eastern Oregon as their retire
ment home.
Festival is today, Thursday at
the Fairgrounds.
