services to the City, namely

egate for the City to the League
of Oregon Cities Convention in
both 1969 and 1970.

not be to the city's best inter
est to rent it at this time.
Budget members appointed
were Gayle Shoemaker and War
ren McCoy for 3 year terms. La
Velle Partlow was named for 1
year to fill Dan Creamers po
sition, as he is often out of town.
Other committee members are
Hubert Senn, Joe Irish and Billy
Griffin, with Fred Walker as an
alternate. A budget officer will
be appointed in the March meeting.
Most likely to develop diabetes
are people over forty years of
age, particularly women, people
who are overweight, and those
who have diabetes in the fam
ily. Such people would be wise
to be tested.

90th Birthday
Dave Graybeal was as happy
as a school boy, when friends
and relative gathered to honor
him on his 90th birthday. He
greeted each one with a smile.
The open house gathering was

Community Baptist Church on
Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. A money tree
was given him.
Mrs. Frank Stewart of La-
Grande sang, "How Great Thou;
Art , as requested by Dave
Grnvbenl. His grandnieces, Shar
on Stewart, Sheryl Partlow and
Debbie McCoy, sang several
songs. These three nieces Danea
and decorated the beautiful
birthday cake.

Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Bill
Graybeal of Milton-Freewater,
and Miss Snow McCoy, of Port
land, a former postal employee
at Hermiston. His sister, Doshia
Brownell, and Mr. and Mrs. Ir
vln Chapman came from Walla
Walla. Other guests came from
Hermiston and La Grande.
Hostesses were Mrs. Warren
McCoy, Mrs. Vernon Stewart
and Mary Adams.
Shows Slides of Japan
Mrs. Orville Buchanan, known
as Mayko to Irrigon residents,
showed colored slides of her trip
to Japan, at the A. C. Hough-
ton school on Monday evening,
after the Educational TV pro
gram on the drug problem.
Mrs. Buchanan is a natural
ized citizen of America. The trip
she made to Japan last summer,
was her first visit to her home
land since she came to Oregon
with her husband about 20 years
ago. While in Japan she vis
ited Expo 70 and her pictures
showed some of the architectur
al wonders at the Worlds Fair.
She stated one of the most beau
tiful in her opinion was the
Swiss Pavilion. Others that were
outstanding were the Japanese,
the American, and Russian.
The February youth "Sing
Out" was at the Boardman Com
munity Church, where a musi
cal group, The Fautenberryl
Family, conducted a one week
crusade.
The Fautenberry family pre
sented a full program.

Just as soon as the weather
brcaks.That's the time to spray your
wheat herbicide this year to beat the
weeds, get your best yield, and cash

This is because winter condi
tions have set the stage for your most

Wheat is still small. Weeds are

weed, henbit, gromwell, tarvveed,
purple mustard, dog fennel, fan
weed, bedstraw and others.
In fact, Igran gives you control
of most annual broadleaf weeds and
grasses. Even gives partial control
of cheatgrass, enough so you're able
to make a crop.
And this is the year when every
bushel counts, when every weed
hurts.
So don't lose 6-8 bushels per
acre by using phenoxy-type weed
killers Iike2,4-D and MCPA.That's
what their injury to wheat costs you,
Not to mention the yield lost because
you had to wait to spray and then
problem weeds escaped anyway.
Rotation? You can follow an
Igran wheat crop in rotation with
peas, lentils, fall barley, alfalfa, blue
grass or clover. No problem.
To sum up, this is the spring fox
Igran herbicide.
So, check fields for problem
weeds early. Then knock 'em out
with Igran just as soon as the
weather opens up.
