There are many i ideas as to the function and what the Jaycees actually ; do; their primary purpose is to develop leadership train I ing through community involvement. To gain the training the Jaycees are obligated to do; the State Jaycees have outlined a program that I gives each chapter and individual a challenging goal, f First is chapter management and individual develop ment; next membership; state, regional and area ac- tivities; community involvement; activity records; par- ticipation in state projects and visitations. The first activity, chapter management and indi i vidual development, involves planning the years activ ities, a planned budget and an organizational structure. Leadership training instruction and leadership training through practical experience is listed. Practical exper ience can be gained through chairmanship of a project such as sale of rodeo concessions or a get out to vote campaign. As everyone knows, it is necessary to have an ac tive membership program as new members are neces sary to keep any club strong and active. Many state, regional and area meetings are held throughout the year to further the members' knowledge and also give the members an opportunity to consult other chapters on their functions. The Morrow County chapter is exceptionally active in the community involvement area as we have con- j ducted projects such as installing the slide at Cutsforth ! Park, school safety, Little League, fair booth, litter j cleanup, Call Santa, Toys for Christmas and Teen ) Dances. More community improvement projects are planned for the future. f Of course any organization or business needs ade- ) quate records to function properly. Records are prepar- ed and kept on all projects and serves to further the members' education with research. State projects can be anything from government 1 involvement to honoring outstanding individuals with- in the community. I Last but not least is visitation to other chapters. f By visiting other chapters one gains knowledge on how a chapter should function and new projects to improve one's own chapter and community. All chapters within the state compete to see how well they carry out the assigned work load. Presently Morrow County stands first in our district and 16th of J the many chapters in the state. We feel that our chap- ter is doing a fine job and hope to present a challenging j assignment to anyone wishing to join. We meet most j every Wednesday at 8:00 P.M. at the Morrow County Gun Club and extend a hearty invitation to anyone wish- ing to join. Sincerely, Morrow County Jaycees 1 wsmmmmmmmmmmmsmmmmm MEMBERS JACK MELLAND FORREST BURKENBINE PAT WONSER LYLE JENSEN TOM WILSON JOHN PRIVETT TOM BEAM FRANK OSMIN CLYDE ALLSTOTT, Associate KEN EVANS BOB HAGER WAYNE HARSIN, Associate JERRY HOLLOMON RON JONES GREG JONES RON McKINSTRY DENNIS O'DONNELL DAVE OWENS REGGIE PASCAL WARREN PLOCHARSKY ED STRUTHERS HARLEY SAGER RICHARD WILLARD CLIFFORD WOOD MARVIN GERKING DAVE FLANAGAN LARRY MacPHERSON FRED BREEDING PAUL ARBOGAST JERRY BRACE THE FOLLOWING MERCHANTS ARE BEHIND YOU 100 Bank of Eastern Oregon Cal's Richfield Service Case Furniture Co.
