The bridegroom Is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Edward Milland of
Portland.
The bride was escorted to the
altar by her father. She was at
tired In a short white crocheted
dress with a scooped neckline
and dolman sleeves. A pot a led
caplet held the short illusion
veil which was designed and
made by the bride. She wore a
heart shaped necklace, a gift
from the bridegroom. Her bridal
bouquet was a nosegay of mini
ature white carnations, stcpha
notls and leather fern in which
she placed a silver Canadian
dollar, a sentimental gift from
her father given to her many
years ago, also, a treasured pin
which belonged to her maternal
grandmother, the late Mrs. Ada
Cason.
Matron of Honor was the
bride's twin sister, Mrs. Timo
thy M. Wakefield of San Ber
nardino, Calif. Her other sister,
Sue Scritsmier, was maid of
honor. They wore Identical tur
quoise long sleeved dresses and
matching miniature daisies en
twined in their hair. They car
ried nosegays of turquoise and
white daisies.
Best man was Larry Helvey
and ushering In the guests was
Terry Moore.
Organ music was played by
Dorothy Link. Selections were
the Wedding March, More and
The Hawaiian Wedding Song.
Altar flowers were white pom
pon mums and baby breath.
For her daughter's wedding,
Mrs. Scritsmier wore a long
sleeved antique beige lace dress
with chestnut accessories and a
deep pink rosebud corsage. Mrs.
Milland wore peach crepe with
bone accessories and a talisman
rosebud corsage.
The newlyweds were greeted
by their guests at a reception
following the ceremony at the
Cosmopolitan Airtel. i

Mrs. Parker Enjoys
Party on 90th B'day
Around 90 friends and rela
tives gathered at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hoskins, Jr.
recently to honor Mrs. Gertrude
Parker on her 90th bithday.
Hosting the reception besides Mr.
and Mrs. Hoskins were the oth
er children of Mrs. Parker
Mrs. Frances Mitchell, Mr. and
Mrs. John Parker, all of Port
land, and Mr. and Mrs. Vawter
Parker of Hood River.
Refreshments were served
from a table featuring a large
birthday cake decorated with or
chids banked by lavender can
dies. Assisting with the serving
were relatives and members of
the Order of Eastern Star, Ruth
Chapter where Mrs. Parker has
been a member for more than
60 years.
Others attending from out-of
town were Mr. and Mrs. Jay
Parker and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Tony Parker, Mr. and Mrs,
Greg Parker and family, grand
children of Mrs. Parker and all
from Portland. Other grand
children included Mr. and Mrs.
George Griffith and family from
Cecil and Marie and Malcolm
Hoskins. Mrs. Parker's nieces,
Mrs. R. B. Ferguson, Mrs. Leon
ard Schwarz and Mrs. Jean
Dunham from Portland were al
so present. Cousins attending
were Mrs. Juanita Crawford,
Junction City; Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Conover, Mrs. Forrest
Conover and Mrs. Delia Brun
son, all from Waitsburg.
A most enjoyable afternoon
was spent in visiting and much
picture taking.

25th Wedding Anniversary
In Auugust we drove to Port
land for Charlie's sister's 25th
Wedding Anniversary party giv
en at the home of their middle
son. Besides "toasting" them,
had fun visiting with the other
kinfolk that we seldom see.
While coming from the bed
room where I"d admired their
one and only grandchild, I met
a "stranger" in the hall and I
said, "I'm Dorothy" arid she said
"I'm Rosemary" . . . one of Char
lies cousins that we hadn't seen
for 23 years when we left Pen
dleton when we bought our first
newspaper. I love families and
I enjoyed hearing where all of
hers are. and then I got to tell
where ours is!
For all of our 33 years of be
ing married, I've heard of this
cousin Bernice Young with
whom Charlie used to play. Well
she was there too. So this was
all fun.
It was one of those rush trips
as we went down and back the
same day.

DEAR FOLKS:
I sure planned to get to visit with more
of you in various parts of the county during
September and October BUT I am work
ing seven days each week on the Penland
Prairie Project.
This project is such a fine recreational
and conservational advancement for our
county. It will contribute a great deal to this area.
If rain, snow, or freezing stops our work, I'll come out visiting.

here visiting this week. He vis
ited with his sister, Mrs. Clara
Kincaid at Pioneer Memorial
Hospital and Mrs. M. E. Cotter
at lone. He has sold his home
in Prineville and is making his
home "where he hangs his
hot"
On Thursday he plans to
drive to Portland. He will at
tend the Earl Blake's 50th Wed
ding Anniversary party. Mrs,
Blake worked for Mr. Mason 55
years ago when he was post
master at lone.

Two fools had cars they
thought perfaction. They met
one day at an intersection. Toot
ed their horns and made con
nection. A police car came and
made inspection. An ambulance
came and made a collection. All
that's left is recollection and
two less voters at the next election.
