Notice is hereby given that on
the 1st day of April, 1970, there
was filed with the Board of Dir
ectors of the West Extension Ir
rigation District a petition for
the inclusion of water right
lands within the boundaries of
the West Extension Irrigation
District. That the owners and
tracts are described as follows:

Elm Trees Will
Suffer Damage
One of our popular shade trees
will soon begin to show signs
of damage from three pests
which plague them each year,
announced Harold Kerr, Morrow
Extension Agent.
The culprits are aphlds, Eur
opean Elm scale, and Elm Leaf
beetle. Together they arc respon
sible for practically defoliating
our elm trees each summer.
They will begin to work in the
near future. In talking with folks
around town, many people are
prone to blame 2,4-D for the
damage to their trees. This Is
not the case at all because most
field spraying Is completed be
fore the elm trees leaf out and
secondly, the symptoms are not
characteristic of 2,4-D damage.

light green in color, and the
sticky substance which Is sec
reted on the sidewalks and cars
which are under the trees.
The European elm scale la
reddish-brown In color, oval
with white cottony fuzz around
edge of body.
Elm leaf beetle adults are
about Vi inch long; wing covers
dull green with darker green
strips. The larvae are elongated,
yellow and black. The elm leaf
beetle should be first sprayed
when leaves are about ex
panded. A second spraying Is
sometimes necessary.
Fortunately control of these
pests can be obtained with the
same material used for aphlds.
Repeat applications 2 weeks
apart may be necessary to get
good control.

should be according to manu
facturers suggestions or for
more details please contact your
county extension office.
