    Blalock Sands Study To Be Made For Building Site Proposal

BOARDMAN A large delega
tion of Morrow County ranchers
attended the Port of Morrow
regular meeting Thursday night
seeking irrigation water for
their lands. The Port nuclear
siting program was reviewed, as
was the private projects and
the Bureau of Reclamation
South Side Project which Is now
being initiated.
Ken Turner and David Baker
were appointed temporary co
chairmen to organize a county
wide Irrigation development
committee to coordinate promo
tional activities.
The Port Commission has ask
ed the State Department of Ge
ology to examine the sands of
Blalock Island to determine if
the material meets the specifi-j
cations of the National Homes
Corporation Ytong pre-molded
home process.
Bids will be asked for plrnt
ing 4,000 copies of a map of
the West Waterfront industrial
Park dock sites and Morrow
County's district tax data to be
released to the 3,000 holders of
the Port of Morrow brochure
across the nation.
The commission discussed the
Attorney General's opinion for
pumping regular Irrigation wa
ter and reviewed engineering
company's interest in a water
grid to cool a nuclear plant.

convention and awards banquet

awarded a saddle, buckle, pair
of Tony Lama boots, a gift cer
tificate from the Pendleton
Grain Growers, and a gift cer
tificate from Al Berg of Berg
Bros., both of Hermlston.
This championship is a first
for Harry In the NRA. He fin
ished out the season with
$2,263.14 in the only event he
enters.
Ho entered 23 rodeos that
Were approved by the NRA this
season and placed at all of
them. It is a pretty good record
when you can go home from
every rodeo you have entered
with a pay check in your pock
et. He also has another record in
having ridden every horse to the
whistle that he has mounted on
this season. He was disqualified
on one horse and the rest were
marked as qualified rides.
Mrs Nohle and daughters Jo-
dy and Jcri accompanied him to
the banquet.
School Choirs Named
The Riverside Junior-Senior
High School band and choir pre
sented a Christmas program
Tuesday night at the school un
der the leadership of Dennis
Surmon, music instructor.
The junior high choir sang
'I Heard the Bells on Christmas
Day", "The Snow Lay On The
Ground" and "Jolly Old Saint
Nicholas." The high school choir
sang "Carol of the Bells", "The
Little Drummer Boy", "Sing
Gloria", "Mary Had a Baby",
"Do You Hear What I Hear",
and "Break Forth, O Beauteous
Heavenly Light" from the
"Christmas Oratoria." Pam
Kuhn and Donna Pummel pre
sented a duet, "Parade of the
Wooden Soldiers", accompanied
by Mrs. Albert Partlow. Final
selection by the choir was "Sil
ver Bells."
