tree to the city. Workmen plant
ed it near the site where the
Lion's Club have their annual
Christmas Tree with treats for
the children. They are making
plans to do this again this year.
Children in Irrigon eagerly
await the arrival of Santa in
the Lion's Club "Jalopy".
The Irrigon Lions Club have
collected quite a few toys, and
more are still coming in. These
will be cleaned and repaired on
a work day, for the School for
the Blind.
The women's Lion Auxiliary
had a most enjoyable day re
cently when they visited at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Witherell in Pendleton and
viewed slides of the Internat
ional Lions Convention, in Tok
yo, Japan.
A sixth daughter was born to
an Irrigon couple, Mr. and Mrs
Vern Evans on Nov. 29. Susan
Ann weighed 7 lb., 10 oz. Ma
ternal grandmother is Mrs. Rose
Francis, Pendleton, paternal
grandparents are Roberta Evans,
Condon, and Vern Evans, Sr.
Heppner.
Lee and Carrie Le Blanc will
be giving away a "Christmas
gift window" an assortment of
prizes again this year, to some
lucky person, from Lee's Texaco
and Groceries.
Mr. and Mrs. LeBlanc were
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Al
bright for a family dinner on
Thanksgiving day. Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Hovinghoff were also din
ner guests.
Lee LeBlanc had several long
distance calls from members of
his family on his birthday, Nov.
28, He says, "It's not too bad
to be a year older if you are
remembered by friends and
family."
The Irrigon Assembly of God
joined with the Umatilla As
sembly for a baptismal service
at the Hermiston Assembly of
God Church. Pastor John Ken
ney baptized 5 young people
and Pastor William Smith of
Umatilla baptized 3 young peo
ple. Rev. William Smith was
the speaker of the evening.
CA Convention
Ann Mesteth, Jody Noble, and
Sheryl Partlow attended a C. A.
Convention at Eugene on Thurs
day and Friday. They traveled
with Assembly of God Young
people from Umatilla and Her
miston. On Saturday Rev. Wil
liam Smith, pastor at Umatilla
took the young people to New
port, where they spent the day
at the beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith
spent Thanksgiving weekend in
Portland, at the home of Mrs.
Smith's brother and sister-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Vern Cald
well. Their son Mike met them
there from the University of Ore
gon in Eugene, where he is a
senior. Other members of the
Caldwell family joined them for
a family reunion.
Mr. and Mrs. William Glen
Hoover spent Thanksgiving at
the home of their son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Hoover, in Arlington. They were
joined by their daughters' fam
ily, Mr. and Mrs. William C.
Stiles and Pat Sullivan of Phoe
nix, Ariz., who attends Oregon
State University.
The men folks in the party
had a successful goose hunt.
Mr. and Mrs. Hoover spent the
first of the week in Portland.
New Management
The Complete Food Store op
ened under the management of
Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Christian
sen on Friday, after remodeling
and painting the interior. The
former managers, Mr. and Mrs.
Don Estes have moved away.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Berg and
Ronald were weekend guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Al Partlow, and
Sheryl. On Sunday the two
families were dinner guests of
Mr. and Mrs. James Mills and
family in Hermiston. The three
women are sisters.
Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Floyd Hobbs on Thanksgiving
day were Mr. and Mrs. Al Part
low, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Hobbs
and Jon Starke.

were Captain and Mrs. Verner
Rasmussen.
Mrs. Houghton visited at the
home of her son Donald Hough
ton in Portlnad for the Thanks
giving holiday.

as they were returning from Eu
gene, where they spent the
weekend. They brought back a
cood suDPly of walnuts for
them.
