IRRIGON The new water
system for the City of Irrlgon
was officially dedicated Satur
day, October 25, at 11 o'clock
when a group gathered at the
well site for the occasion.
Mayor Wilson gave a brief
summary of events leading to
final construction of the facil
ity. Seven years of planning, en
compassing two bond elections,
two applications for federal
funds assistance and numerous
other efforts which were em
ployed In an attempt to get the
project unaerway.
Federal funds were eventual
ly made available throueh

The well had been developed
previously by Strassor Drilling
Company of Portland. The sys
tem was put into operation on
October 8 with home owners en
couraged to make their connec
tions as soon as possible. Mayor
Wilson commended the Council
and the people of the commu
nity whose cooperation and sup
port made the project possible.

Oregon that traveled by train.
In Denver they found there was
14 inches or snow and the tern
perature was down to 0 de
grees. While there they visited
the Denver Mint and the Air
Force Academy.
Tom spent four days at the
National convention. The boys
also toured Manhattan, Kansas
State University, the flour mill
in Abilene, Kan. Other points of
interest in Abilene was the Eis
enhower Center and In Old Abi
lene, a replica of an old time
western town.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Kennedy
are very thankful that their son
Michael, 12 years old, is alive
and recovering from injuries re
ceived in an accident on October
5. He has been in St. Anthony
hospital, Pendleton since that
time, and will be there for pos
sibly 7 weeks longer. He was
thrown from the pickup truck
at impact. Both legs were bro
ken as well as his right jaw.
Most of his teeth were knock
ed out with serious injury to
his gums and lips. Other mem
bers of the family have recov
ered from cuts and bruises.
Keith, 17, has returned to school.
Mrs. Bill Parker is convalesc
ing after an appendectomy at
the Umatilla hospital.
Gerry Mulkey escaped with
only broken ribs when he was
caught and crushed between
two trucks in the Tri-City area.
He was hospitalized for obser
vation as the broKen rib was
over his heart, but Is recover
ing satisfactorily now.
