Jones Over 100 Royal Arch Masons from Oregon and Washington traveled to this area on Satur day, July 12, to attend an out doors meeting for the conferral of the Royal Arch degree In honor of Grand High Priest of Oregon Paui Jones. Excellent Companion Howard Bryant, grand sentinel, opened the chapter meeting at 2:00 p.m., in the absence of Herman Win ter, high priest and grand orator, then declared the meeting at ease until 7:00 p.m. Grand High Priest Paul Jones was honored at the evening chapter meeting when escorted to the East and extended the Private Grand Honors of Mason ry. He introduced members of his Grand family and all other visiting Grand dignitaries and extended them their proper reception. Members of Pasco Chapter No. 33. Pasco, Wn., presided during the evening conferral of the de gree, presenting the work in a most interesting and excellent manner. The Washington cere mony was found to be different from that used in Oregon, and of particular interest to all Ore gon members. Following the degree work, with Companion Bryant and his officers presiding, a certificate of appreciation was presented to the excellent high priest of the Pasco Chapter for their part in honoring our Grand High Priest Paul Jones. George Walker, grand master of the third veil of the Oregon Grand Chapter, was escorted to the East where he presented Paul Jones with a Canadian na tional flag, a token of internat ional companionship from the Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in Canada. Davis of Irrigon and Dar ryl Scott Miller, son fcf Mrs. Anita Armas of Be 11 flower Calif, and Mr. Dale Miller of Downey. Calf., were united In marriage Saturday, June 21, at the Assembly of God church, lr rigon. The pastor, Rev. John Kenney, performed the wedding ceremony. The bride, given In marriage by her father, carried a bou quet of white daisies and yel low carnations on a white satin bible. Her gown of white linen crash had an empire bodice with embroidered lace around the neck and elbow length sleeves. Trio skirt was designed with lace motif and chapel train. She wore a two tiered nylon veil. with a crown of matching lace. Matron of honor was Mrs. Frank Shade, sister of the bride, who wore a street length yel low crepe sheath with a lace coat. She wore a matching headpiece and carried a bouquet of white daisies and yellow car nations, with yellow streamers. Tom Parsons was the rest man. Mrs. Al Partlow provided wedding music and accompan ied Mrs. Floyd Hobbs, vocalist. Ushers were Lynn Hobbs and Robert McRae. The flower girl was Kim Shade, niece of the bride, while the ring bearer was Keith Gallo, nephew of the bride. The guest book attendant was Mrs. Robert McRae. i The church was beautifully decorated with baskets of dais ies, yellow carnations and white gladiolus. A reception followed at the Lion's Club building. The three tiered wedding cake was decor ated with daisies and topped with wedding bells. The cake was served by Mrs. David Gal lo, sister of the bride. Punch was served by Mrs. Lynn Hobbs, coffee by Mrs. Roxina Wade. The gift table was attended by Mrs. Bill Cooley and Cassandra Brandt. The new Mrs. Darryl Scott Miller chose a yellow knit suit with brown accessories, for her wedding trip. The bride graduated from Riv erside High school in 1967 and attended BMCC one year and is now enrolled in Weaver Airline school. The groom graduated from Huntington Park, Calif. The couple will make their home in California after Sept ember 1. Out of town guests came from Pendleton, Burbank, Wash., Walla Walla, Corvallis, Board man, Hermiston and California. PAUL W. R.A.M. of Oregon Visiting ladies were entertain ed at the Heppner Masonic hall by a committee of hostesses, Mrs. Paul Jones, Mrs. Herman Winter and Mrs. Howard Bry ant. Heppner Chapter No. 26 has for many years had state rec ognition for its outdoors meet ing and degree work. This year the chapter was honored by having four members in the Grand family; namely, Grand High Priest Paul Jones, Grand Sentinel Howard Bryant, Grand Orator Herman Winter and Har old Becket, district deputy of the grand high priest, who has served in this office for several years. "This has been an out standing record, and Heppner will probably never again be so honored," it Is noted by Larry Cook, secretary and reporter. The chapter observed its 75th anniversary in 1968. Miss Judy Jones presided ov er the opening song session, and entertained with two vocal sel ections, with guitar accompani ment. Mrs. Grace Drake and her daughter, Gwen, dedicated a special mouth organ number to the honor couple. A selection of colored slides were shown by Bill, as he dis cussed the areas of youth work with which he has been asso ciated during the past two sum mers. Particular emphasis was given the Youth Adventures program near Oregon City where ne served as counselor and as sistant camping director with ! juvenile boys last summer. "Land Born of Fire," showing the work of the Forestry Service in Oregon's volcanic Cascades. Many of the now beautiful high mountains and lakes were formed through volcanic action, it was pointed out. The Cas cades were historically a land "first born of fire deep within the earth." Beauties of the wil derness areas in the Mt. Jeffer son. Three Sisters, Bend and other areas were captured In the colorful movies. Destruction bv big fires In the Hoodoo area near Jefferson showed the need for adequate lire observation posts, the ade quate training for fire fighters and smoke lumpers and proper salvage work, The air training center at Redmond serves a need for instructing fire fighting crews in the surrounding areas. It was announced that the Grange will not have an Aug ust meeting at the hall, but will have a picnic at the Anson Wright Memorial Park on Sun day, August 17. Plans for summer activities of Women's Activity club of the Grange were discussed at the last meeting held at the home of Mrs. Ron Haguewood.
