The Boardman Industrial De
velopment Corporation was or
ganized at a meeting here Tues
day of last week at the Dodge
City Inn. There were 24 present.
Temporary officers elected were:
Dewey West, president; Shirley
Zielinskl, secretary; and M. D.
Van Valkenburgh, attorney,
treasurer.
Articles of Incorporation which
were read by Van Valkenburgh
were adopted. Twenty-two peo
ple purchased shares of stock, of
which 25 are needed. Anyone
else wishing to purchase stock
may contact the city hall.
Rupert Kennedy, coordinator
of the Port of Morrow Commis
sion, spoke to the group, telling
them that there are 4,000 acres
of land in the Port's Industrial
Park which extends 44 miles
east of Boardman on the Col
umbia River, and are available
for industrial development. He
said there are some of the fin
est sites along the river. He al
so stated that the city should
prepare for an increase in pop
ulation here in the next five to
ten years, and that space for
mobile homes should be prepar
ed for during the transition per

A new post as deputy com
mander of Qui Nhon Support
Command for Northern II Corps
in South Vietnam will be the
next step In the 27-year career
of Colonel Whelan. He has com
manded UAD since July, 1967.
It will not be the first time
Colonel Norrls succeeds him in
an assignment. Colonel Whelan
said. In 1964 Colonel Norrls re
placed him as commanding of
ficer of 704th Maintenance Bat
talion, 4th Infantry Division, Ft.
Lewis, Wash.
As Colonel Whelan did before
taking command of UAD two
years ago. Colonel Norrls cur
rently is attending the Industri
al College of the Armed Forces
at Ft. McNair, Va. He holds a
master's degree in business ad
ministration from the Universi
ty of Chicago. August 1 is the
approximate departure date for
Col. Whelan. j ti
Colonel Norrls entered the
Army in 1943 and received his
commission in February. 1945,
