day and Thursday of the past
week were Mr. and Mrs. Curtis
Culp and family, who spent
time visiting his parents, the

Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Tallon
of Dallas were cuests ol M
and Mrs. Wes Sherman over the
week end. They enjoyed a trip
to Bull Prairie Sunday. The
couples are longtime friends.

nual banquet Friday, May 2. at
7:00 p.m. In the school caret or

The honored guesta were
members of the senior class

Beggs. Joan Burcham, irank

Tom McKlllgott. David Marlck,
BonnI Morgan, Keith Nelson,
Linda Nichols. Ron Palmateer,

Joyce llowton.

the parents of the above group,
the high school teacners ana
wives, advisory board members
and wives. Supt. and Mrs. Ron
Daniels and Rev. and Mrs. Mike
Luedde.
The theme of the banquet was
beautifully portrayed In a Ray,
festive Mexican mood, and ap
Drourlatelv named menu.
Invocation by Kristin Nelson,
was followed by a welcome by
Linda Pettvlohn, and the re
sponse by Karl reuyjonn. Kris
eterson played the "bcarf
Dance" by Chaminade, and
Scotch Poem by MacDowell.
Rev. F. W. Luedde was guest
peaker for the evening and
losed the program with the
benediction.
Junior class mothers prepared
the dinner, and was served by
members of the sophomore
class.
Saturday evening the Junior-
Senior prom was held in the
grade school auditorium, beau
tifully decorated in the prom
theme. "Misty Gardens." An
open house period between 9:00
p.m. and 10:00 p.m. gave par
ents and fronds an opportunity
to see the decorations. Music
was mrnisnea Dy me "Burnt
Sleep".
Highlight of the evening was
the crowning of Miss Charity
Beggs as Queen and Tom Mc-
Elligott as King of the Prom.

their dates were introduced ear
lier in the evening, and they
also sang "Happy Birthday" to
Bob Ball.

Mrs. Dclsle Chapel, Cassie

accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ad-
rlan Bechdolt of Hardman to
Hood River last week where
they attended the Apple Festi
val. They ate dinner at the
Park vale Granee and then tour
ed the orchards and the sur
rounding valley.

say Kincaid home last Wednes
day were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ed
wards of Albanv. Mr. and Mrs.
Gene Rietmann and family were
dinner guests that evening. Mrs.
Edwards. Mrs. Rietmann and
Mrs. Kincaid were roommates
when they attended the College
of Idaho
Miss Cassie Chapel attended
the wedding of her brother,
Ronnie Brisbols in Condon Sat
urday evenine at St. John's
Catholic church. Cassie was in
charge of the eifts.
Mr. and Mrs. Lindsay Kincaid
and family scent last week-end
at Corvallls. On the way home
they stopped In Woodburn to see
Rev. and Mrs. Walter Crowell.
They reported Rev. Crowell is
much better and able to be out
little.
Miss Marianne Pettyjohn,
queen of the Arlington rodeo,
also won the barrel race at the
rodeo events on Sunday.
Mrs. Charles O'Connor attend
ed a Postmasters Convention in
Hood River last Tuesday. On
Friday Charles met her and they
drove to Eugene to spend the
week-end with their daughters,
Terri and Lee, and also visit
Mrs. O'Connor's mother, Mrs.
Edna Yarnell.
Mrs. Paul Pettvlohn, Sr., en
Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m.,
May 11, there will be a discus
sion on the Council for Christ
ian Social Action proposal "Am
nesty for War Objectors" at the
United Church of Christ. Copies
of the proposal may be obtain
ed at the worship service Sun
day morning or by contacting
Rev. F. W. Luedde.

of a one-act play, "Bachelor of
the Year" presented by the high
school speech class under the

Bob Cox and daughter came
from their home in Gresham on
Friday to spend the week-end
with their folks, Mr. and Mrs.
Darren farrens and Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Cox.
Ray Davis, Jr.. and a friend
of Portland were here visiting
the Kay Davis, Sr., family from
Friday afternoon until Sunday.
Mr. and Airs. Earl Herrig and
four children of Stanfield were
visiting their relatives here over
he week-end.
Mr. and Mrs. Mead Gilman
drove to Pendleton on Friday,
taking their daughter-in-law to
the airport. They then drove out
to the Fred Price ranch to visit

weeks ago. He had spent the
winter in Arizona with some of
his relatives.
Deputy Robert Cantwell drove
to Pendleton on Friday on bus
iness. Mr. and Mrs. Mead Gilman
drove to Portland last Thursday
morning to be with their son,
Donald, from Alaska, while his
wife was taking tests in the
Portland Clinic. Mead and Lin-
nie came home Sunday evening
Mr. and Mrs. Verne Matteson
of Mt. Vernon were here for
fishing and to visit with their
folks on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Matteson
and daughter, Mrs. Jessie Scott,
and son, Verne Matteson, drove
to Walla Walla, Wn, Monday
on business
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Scott have
sold their lot on which Ernie
Johnson has his trailer house,
to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cant
well. Bud Steele and son. Willard,
of Hood River, were in town
last Thursday evening to attend
a school meeting.
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Palmer
and three children came from
Condon last Sunday to spend
the day with her uncle and aunt,
Mr. and Mrs. George Capon.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim TiDDett. Mrs.
Grace Stirritt, and Mr. and Mrs.
George Capon drove to John Day
to visit the Lonnie Harris fam
ily, and Mrs. Stirritt visited her
granddaughter, Mrs. Carl Rose
and family. Mrs. Delsie Swick
returned home with her daugh
ter, Mrs. Capon, after spending
a week at the Harris home.

were hosts for a birthday din
ner Saturday evening for two
grandchildren, Terry and Don
nie Forrest, children of Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Forrest. Also present
was another grandmother, Mrs.
Delsie Sweek.

at the L. L. Flower ranch Fri
day afternoon.

services will be Sunday, May 18,
at 8:00 p.m. Graduation exercis
es will be Friday, May 23, at
8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Oletta Farrens was in
Hood River last week attending
the Past Master's Convention.
She returned home Saturday.

Holmes, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Holmes, and Brent Hix
son, son of Mr. and Mrs. George
Hixson, are the three students
chosen to attend Girls' and
Boys' State.

Livestock Club Plans
For Summer Activities
The Rhea Creek Livestock
club met at the home of their
leader, Gene Hall, on April 20,
at 7:30 p.m. The 4-H pledge
was said, the roll was called
and the minutes were read and
approved. We discussed the fol
lowing things: On May 25,
there will be a Junior Hereford
Association field day at Stone
Hereford Ranch on Buttercreek.
On June 16-21 there will be a
4-H summer school at Corval
lis. On June 25-28, 4-H camp
will be held at Cutsforth Park.
We went through our records.
The meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be on
May 18, at the Heath ranch.
