But the Prospectors hit a cold
spot In the third quarter. Wah
tonka. led bv Greg Bliss and
Bruce Wilkes, tallied eight
straight points at the start of
the period and took the lead,
32 to 31. Although it was a see
saw battle from thai point, Wah
tonka never bowed and moved
to the eventual three point victory.
Bliss piled up 25 points for
the winners, while Dave Dicker
led Grant Union with 17.

county Extension office for Nate
Summer School counselors and
State Fair student staff.
College age counselors are
needed to live with and super
vise the 13 17 year old t II del
egates. Counselors must have
ompleted one year ot college;
II and counseling experience
are desirable hut noi essential.

minus deductions, and room
and board are furnished.

forms. Applications are due in
Corvallis by April 15.
The State Fair student staff
applicants must have complet
ed one year of college. They
will be employed at various du-
ies in dormitory, exhibit burni
ngs, horse snow, iivcsiock, oog
shows and such. Uniforms are
furnished to this staff. Student
staff will be paid $12.00 per day
minus deductions. Room and
meals are provided. Applications
are due June 15.
The county Extension office
also has a supply of "Father of
the Year" forms for the conven
ience of any youth group that
wishes to make a nomination
for this honor. Four-H groups are
encouraged to enter deserving
fathers in this contest.
Four-H Summer School
Applications for State 4-H
Summer School will be mailed
out from Corvallis this month
to all 4-H club members 12 years
old or over who are enrolled.
Application mailings will be
made from ADP computer list
ings. Any 4-H member who does
not receive the application by
March 25 should call the Exten

brand new. brown brick, two
story office building. The struc
ture was built for PNB on a
lease basis by the Grecnleaf
Company of Portland.
There are 35 PNB men and
women working in the building
designed bv Wesley Korman.

counts for customers in Heppner.

activities at the new location

Band Carnival
A cash prize of $3 w ill be giv.
en each half hour during this
year Band Carnival on Satur
day evening. April 19. Instead
of the usual merchandise prix
vh. tickets will be drawn and a
cash prue will be given each
half hour. The & donation are
being made by citizens who are
eager to help Heppner" bands,
and those Interested are asked
to send or take donations to
Alan Martin, principal of Hepp
ner Elementary school.
Included with the carnival
booths will be a special booih
which will sell tlcketes on
handmade afghan which Mrs.
Edna Munkers. grandmother of
two band members. Craig and
Barrv Munkers, has donated to
the r.ki9 carnival.

a dance from 10:00 to 1:00 with
music furnished bv a local com
bo, the Burnt Sleep band.
The Heppner pep band, in lis
new gold blazers, was a popu
lar attraction at the district bas
ketball tournament in La
Grande. Members are now eag
erly working to accumulate ex
tra funds to finance their trip
to the slate tournament and will
appreciate community support
now and at the annual carnival.

For City Pumping
IRRIGON Bids were opened
at 5 p.m. February 25, on in
stallation of a water distribu
tion system for the City of Ir
rigon, including tank and pump
ing facilities.
The apparent low bidder
among the six submitting bids
was Richard T. Robertson of
Vancouver, whose bid of $66,003
for the basic project was $400
over the engineer's estimate.
Since there were many unit pric
es and alternate items involved
it will be several days before
the engineers can fully evalu
ate the bid proposals and make
their recommendations to the
City for award of contract.
The high bid of $78,780 was
submitted by E. W. Eldridge,
Inc., of Sandy.
Mrs. Norah Rasmus returned
to her home last Wednesday af
ter being confined the past I'M
months in St. Anthony and Pio
neer Memorial hospitals, recov
ering from a broken leg in a
fall on December 21. She is en
lovine a limited amount of ac
tivity and is able to be out and
