where he served for one year

currently stationed at San Fran
cisco, Calif., where the couple
will make their home following
their marriage.

The engagement of Miss Car
olyn Ruth Harold, daughter of
the Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth A.
Harold of Mandevllle, Jamaica,
West Indies, to William Edward
Sherman, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wesley A. Sherman, Heppner,
was announced during the
Thanksgiving holidays at a fam
ily gathering in Philadelphia,
Pa. Parents of the bride-elect are
members of the teaching staff
of the Jamaica Bible School and
College at Mandeville.
Miss Harold Is a senior stu
dent at Gordon College in Wen
ham. Mass. She attended grade
school In Haiti, the Manchester
High school and Bishops High
school, under the British edu
cation system, in Mandeville.
After teaching one year at Bish
ops, she enrolled at Gordon Col
lege, where she Is in her third
year of study, and will receive
a degree in English and sec
ondary education at the end of
the current school year.
After graduating from Hepp
ner High school In 1964, Mr.
Sherman attended the Universi
ty of Oregon, where he receiv
ed a bachelor of arts degree In
sociology in June, 1968. He
Is presently enrolled for
his first year of seminary study
at Gordon Divinity School in
Wenham, Mass.

Piano Students Heard
In Winter Recital
Piano pupils of Mrs. D. E.
Hudson presented a winter pro
gram of Christmas music for
enjoyment of parents and friends
on Sunday, December 8, at the
American Legion hall.
The afternoon program began
with group singing, with piano
accompaniment by Mrs. Dean
Connor.
The program featured many
favorite Christmas carols with
each student playing two selec
tions. Spaced throughout the
program were piano duets and
songs by Barbara, Donna and
Debora Palmer; Kristi, Kel-
wayne, Kimme Lu ana Kevan
Haguewood, and Laurie McCabe.
Other students performing were
Michelle Cutsforth, Suzanne
Cutsforth, Kaylene Ritch, Joan
Ployhar, Judy and Sandy Ben
nett and Lisa McCabe.
At the conclusion of the pro
gram Mrs. Hudson presented
oooklets of sheet music as gifts
to her students.
Mothers of the pupils served
refreshments of coffee, punch
and cookies to parents, friends
and students.
Extension to Offer
Coming Workshop
Morrow county women are re
minded of the -Sew With Knits"
workshops to be offered in the
county soon.
Project leaders from each ex
tension unit will be trained dur
ing January to teach the work
shop to interested women from
all our local communities at a
future date. One need not be a
member of an extension unit to
participate.
The county extension office
asks all women who plan to
take advantage of this work
shop to sign up at the county
office or call 676-9642. It is nec
essary for the office to know
the number of women interest
ed in order to plan for instruction.
