The new Oregon Trail Appa-
loosa club is sponsoring a horse
show In Pendleton at the Round
up pavilion on Sunday, Novem
ber 24, starting at 10 a.m. It is
for all breeds and an open play
day is planned.
Events to be included are pole
bending, rescue race, barrel race.

the clubhouse of the Kinzua
Gulf Club Saturday evening, Oc
tolier 26.
Thirty club members and
guests gathered to pay tribute
and observe the awarding of
trophies to the division winners
of the 1968 club championship
played on the local course. The
dinner, prepared by Ron Ever
sole, carried a Hallowe-en
theme throughout with old fash
ioned Jack-OLanterns made
from real pumpkins setting of)
the decorations.
At the conclusion of the ban
quet, flight winners and run-
ners-up were presented desK
pen trophies by Bob Mlsener,
tournament committee chair
man.
Winners and runners-up hon
ored were: Club champion: Milt
Boring; runner-up, Ed Wham.
First Flight winner was Lrnie
Wall with runner-up, Bud Bird.
Second flight winner was Jim
Hulett with runner-up Lyle
Frazier. Two matches remain to
be plaved to determine the
third flight winner for which
trophies will be awarded at a
later date.
Mr. and Mrs. Larry Simmons
became the parents of a dau
ghter on Thursday, October 24,
at the Pioneer Memorial hospi
tal in Heppner. The baby weigh
ed 5 lb., 15 oz., and has been
named Cindy Lou. Grandparents
are Mrs. Ray Hampton of Kin
lua, Roy M. Oliver Carey of Eu
gene, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sim
mons, Sr., of Klaffien, Kans.
Great-grandparents are Mrs.
Troy Smith of Eugene and Mrs.
Opal Fassaner of Lorraine,
Kans.
Visiting over the week-end
with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Woods were Mr. and Mrs. Cal
vin Brooks of Albany. Mr.
Brooks has recently been dis
charged from the Army after
spending two years in Germa
ny. Mrs. Robert Kelso and Mrs.
Vernon Perry were business vis
itors to Heppner Saturday. Mrs.
Perry visited Mr. Perry who is
a patient in the Heppner hospi
tal following surgery last Thurs
day. John Wall took his grand
mother, Mrs. Victoria Bible, to
Arlington Saturday from where
she took the bus to her home
in Portland after having spent
the past two weeks visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Wall.
Spending the week-end at the
Vernon Perry home were Mr. and
Mrs. Roscoe Rush and family of
Cascade Locks and Mrs. Brooks
Hall and son of Mt. Vernon.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Slinkard
and son, Mike, of Klamath Falls
spent the week-end here visit
ing with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rec
tor. Mrs. Louis Lorengel and dau
ghter, Linda, were business vis
itors to Portland Monday.
Daniel Stubblefield returned
to his home here last Wednes
day after having spent several
days in the Heppner hospital.

Mrs. Millie Evan was in
Pendleton recently where she
went to spend time with her
brother-in-law and sister, Mr.
and Mrs. S. A. Karl. Karl under
went hand surgery Oct. 31 at
St. Anthony hospital tor an arth
ritic condition. Mrs. Evans al
so visited with Mrs. Ramona
Marshall who Is confined in St.
Anthony hospital. She reports
that Mrs. Marshall is coming
along well and expected to re
turn home soon.
