bedroom at a cost of $550 was
aDDroved.
Particulars in a contract for
a new city well were read af
ter heine drawn bv City Supt.
Vic Groshens, and it was turned
over to the city attorney for re
view. Bids are expected to be
called for in two or three
months.
The council approved a pro-
Dosal of Fire Chief Forrest Bur
kenbine for the fire department
to inspect buildings in Heppner
as one of the improvements re
quested by the Oregon Insurance
Rating Bureau. The inspection
is expected to be confined prin
cipally to business buildings.
False arrest insurance was
discussed, and Police Chief
Glenn Kolkhorst gave pros and
cons on the matter. A company
had offered the insurance to the
city at a low premium. Before
any action Is taken, the city
will check with the insurance
commissioner on whether the
firm is licensed in the state of
Oregon.
Under a policy approved at
the meeting, matters to be plac
ed on the agenda for council
consideration must be in the
hands of the recorder a week
prior to a regular meeting. This
is to permit councilmen a
chance to think on the matters
and problems in advance with
out being forced to act on them
cold. It was agreed that this
will not prevent incidental mat
ters from coming before the
council nor prevent appearance
of anyone with business to present.
Guests at the home of Frank
Turner, during the past week
were his brother and sister-in-law.
Mr. and Mrs. John W. Turn
er of Baker. The couple also
spent time in lone visiting at
the homes of her brothers-in-
nv and sisters, Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Roberts and Mr. and
Mrs. Victor Rietmann. Other
guests over the week-end at the
Rietmann home were their son-in-law
and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Dean Rhode and two child
ren from Kennewick, Wn.
