The Bureau of Reclamation
ha bwn funded to bcum re
connaissance invest! tint ion of
the Columbia South Side Pro)
ret during Ihl fisi al year.
Mam are for the field crews
to iM'jjin their work during the
week of October 21 and hopes
lor It to be completed by June,
l'.x;;. The area Included in the
Ktudy lies along the south side
of the Columbia River from the
vicinity of Butter Creek west
ward to the Deschutes River and
extends south to approximately
1500 feet elevation. The princi
pal oblectlves will be to deter
mine the potential for land and
water resource development and
to identify areas which warrant
further study now and In the
future.
A basic part of this Investi
gation is a land classification
survey to Identify the lands
suitable for Irrigation develop
ment and classify them Into ap
propriate irritability classes.
Field crews make many soil
borings, collect samples for
laboratory analysis, and observe
and map various other charac
terlstics which affect Irrigabil
ity.
Field crews need to have ac
cess to all lands within the
study area In order to complete
this study. Early completion of
this study could mean a great
boost to the agricultural poten
tial of Morrow county. Cooper
ation of landowners would be
greatly appreciated.
When you can't locate it or get it. done in Heppner, these Pendleton Bus
iness and Professional Firms will be happy to rc;ve you.

There is a difference in Steel Gates. You can get a PACIFIC GATE made
from full-hard spring steel, riveted at every joint, and equipped with
custom-designed superior hardware. Or ycu can worry with a gate that
looks similar, but is made from inferior material, with an old-fashioned
chain latch, rust-susceptible spot-welded joints, and weak, sagging hinges.
PRICE, HOWEVER, IS ABOUT THE SAME, SO
INFERIOR PRODUCT. SPECIFY PACIFIC
