Married in Church Ceremony
St. Patrick's Catholic church
in Heppner was the setting cho
sen for the August 23 wedding
ceremony uniting Miss Trisha
Marie Farley In marriage to
Mark Edward Halvorsen. The
evening ceremony was performed
by Rev. Raymond H. Beard be
fore an altar decorated with old
fashioned mixed floral bouquets.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. James J. Farley
of Heppner and the groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Halvorsen of lone.
Given in marriage by her fa
ther, the bride wore a floor
length white sleeveless gown of
silk organza with rows of pink
and white daisy chain trim dec
orating the front and edging the
high old-fashioned neckline. The
long train and her white should
er leneth illusion veil also fea
tured border trim of matching
daisy pattern. Her bridal bou
quet was of pink daisies with
white floral background.
Attending the bride as maid
of honor was Miss Jean Marie
Healy. Bridesmaids were Miss
Shannon Farley, sister of the
bride, Miss Susan Lindstrom and
Miss Gayle Batty.
Attendants wore floor length
gowns of pink dotted swiss with
pink satin sashes decorated with
various sized white daisies with
pink centers. Their illusion net
headpieces had attached lontf
pink satin streamers and at
tendants carried vari colored old
fashioned nosegays of sweet
peas. Attending as best man was
Joe Halvorsen, brother of the
groom. Ushering the guests were
Frank Halvorsen, another bro
ther of the groom, Tom Heim
bigner and Eric Anderson.
Musical selections were pro
vided during the ceremony by
Bill Knny, who sang tradition
al wedding selections, accompa
nied by Miss Marguerite Glavey
at the organ.
Mothers of the bridal couple
wore corsages of pink and white
symbidium orchids. Mrs. Farley,
mother of the bride, attended in
a pink linen dress with match
ing pink accessories. Mrs. Hal
vorsen, motner or ine groom,
fhnse to wear a blue frock of
silk material.
Following the wedding cere
monv, the newly married coupL;
greeted many friends and rela
tives in a reception held in the
church parish hall.
Wedding guests were seated
at small tables covered with
white cloths and decorated at
tractively with centerpieces of
pink net and candles.
Mrs. Marion Green and Mrs.
Laurence Becket cut and served
the tiered pink and white wed
ding cake following the tradit
ional first cutting by the bri
dal couple. Also assisting with
serving were Mrs. Archie Munk
ers and Mrs. Larry Prock, sis
ter of the groom, who poured
punch, and Mrs. Paul Hisler,
who served coffee.
Attending the guest book was
Janelle Farley, Portland, cousin
of the bride.
In charge of reception ar
rangements was Mrs. Jack
Healy, assisted by Mrs. Ken
neth Batty, Mrs. Jim Prock, and
other members or St. Patrick's
Altar Society.
For their wedding trip to
White Pass, Wn., and points on
the Oregon coast, the bride
changed to a rose colored knit
coat and dress ensemble, ac
cented by black accessories.
The couple is currently at
home in La Grande where both
are enrolled for their junior
year at Eastern Oregon College
of Education. He is majoring in
secondary education and she is
enrolled in secretarial science.
Among the many out of town
relatives who attended the cere
mony were Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Sumner, cousins of the bride, of
The Dalles; Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Bristow, Portland, also cousins
of the bride, and Al Bergstrom,
Portland, uncle of the bride.
