Athens Wedding Unites
Young Air Force Couple
In the historic city of Athens,
Greece, but surrounded by mo1
em-day military atmosphere, a
wedding ceremony Joined In
marriage Miss Barbara Gnbblo,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Low
ell Gribble of Heppner, and
Airman First Class Larry Mi
chael Derrick, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Derrick of Baker,
early Thursday evening, June
20.
The chapel of the U. S. Air
Force Base in Athens was the
setting for the 6:30 p.m. cere
mony performed In the presence
of friends at the base where
the groom Is presently station
ed. Officiating at the double
ring ceremony was the base
chaplain, Colonel Armstrong.
The bride's wedding cown,
part of a limited baggage al
lowance which accompanied her
on the plane trip to days pre
viously, was of white lace over
taffeta. Wide bands of white
satin edged the sweetheart
neckline, the hemline of the A
line floor-length skirt, and at
the wrists of her full lace
seeves. A headdress of five min
iature Dior white roses held in
place her elbow-length veil of
silk illusion. Barbara's bridal
bouquet was of white native
blooms, similar to carnations, ac
cented with wide satin bow and
long streamers.
, The groom and other military
attendants were attired in full
uniform dress of Air Force blue.
Airman Michael Haegy, also
stationed at the base, served as
hest man. . .
Serving as matron of honor
was Mrs. Haggy, wife of the
best man.
The newlyweds will live in
Athens during the next two
years, while the groom com
pletes his military service with
Security Police attached there
with the U. S. Air Force. They
are making their home In an
apartment in Athens which
overlooks the city, with views
of the Aegean and Mediterran
ean Seas.

the southern coast of East Tur-
kev.
The bride completed her soph
omore year this spring at East
ern Oregon College, La Grande,
t.nd is a 19G6 graduate of
Heppner High school. The groom
had attended the University ot
Oregon prior to entering serv
ice, and was stationed two years
with the Air Force in Korea be
fore his assignment in Greece.
Summers Descendant
Gather for Reunion
The 15th annual Summers
family reunion was held at St.
Mary's Academy hall in The
Dalies on Saturday and Sunday,
July 13 and 14, with a large at
tendance of relatives present.
At the annual business meet
ing, held on Sunday in connec
tion with the large catered noon
banquet, Mrs. Ilene Wyman of
Heppner was elected president
for the coming year. Mrs. Helen
Wehrli of Fossil was chosen to
serve as secretary.

mcrs and Mary Ellen McCor
mick Summers held their first
reunion at Lehman Hot Springs
near Ukiah in 1953, with 75 re
lations attending. There are
now 600 members and honorary
members who are notified each
year of the reunion, several ol
whom live in the Heppner area.

ness meeting at 1:00 p.m., dur
ing which the new president,
Mrs. Harold Huber, presided.
Discussion was held on change
of the meeting days to Wed
nesdays, and continuing the
hours ol 10:00 to 2:30 so that
morn iwrsons will be able to
attend, especially after the start
of the next school year. An in
vitation is extended anyone in
the area who Is interested in
gardening, both men and wom
en, to attend. Contact may be
